I just got back from a club. A real city club. It was the very first time I've ever experienced something like that. I have to say I'm at a loss of words. I've never experienced anything like it before in my life. When you see it on TV it's nothing like actually being there with hundreds of strangers.

I went with a buddy with hopes of finding a girl, or getting some phone numbers. I thought I would get some, but I didn't get any. When I arrived there was this line, and all these different looking people. The guy wanted to see my id, so I showed him and he put the letter x on both my hands. I entered the club with my buddy and the girl he was with. I felt like moving cattle.

I walked into it and there was this loud music, so loud I couldn't hear myself speak. Then suddenly I was drowned in smoke. It sunk deep into my cloths and onto my skin, and was in every breath I took. I almost vomited. Immediately I felt very claustrophobic. There were so many people I couldn't move. They all were flowing somewhere. I was following my friend and his girl and went with the flow. After like 2 minutes of trying to get through all those people we were separated. I couldn't find them anymore. I was lost in the crowds.

I kept wondering until I seen a place where I could just stand. I was afraid cause now I felt alone. I was alone. I saw drunk people and sober people dancing like I've never seen before. They were dancing to this loud music. I just stood and watched. I couldn't force myself to do anything that the other people were doing. I could just stand and watch. I felt out of place, and very uncomfortable.

I observed about 9 girls dancing on some counter top. There was this blonde one. She moved like I had never seen a girl move before. I could not take my eyes off her. I have never seen anything like it, I didn't even know girls could do that. I mean when you see it on TV, it doesn't compare to how it looks in person. I just stood there watching her. She was dancing with another  girl, they both were vibing together. Again, I can't even express how intense  it was watching something like that.

I wasn't the only guy watching her though. There were countless amounts of guys watching all of the girls, and hunting after them. I felt like I stood no chance. Why do I have to be an animal to have a girl like that. As I was watching them dance, I felt that at least two of them were looking my way, possibly at me. Most of the times they looked my way, I turned my head. Don't ask me why.

Suddenly I felt disgusted with all of the girls that were dancing. Everything just turned me off about them and being in that club. But then I felt that there was nothing I could want more than to be dancing with one of them. My face became all sweaty and I was hot and could barely breathe. The smoke was getting to me. It was aggravating me allergies. I wanted to get out. I felt like I was in hell.

I eventually found my friend and I was watching him dance with his girl in the middle of everyone. I never seen that side of him before. I was surprised he could do that.

With the hopes going to find girls to meet and talk to, I did nothing. I didn't talk to any girls. I didn't get any numbers. I felt like really stupid and odd. I want one of these girls so bad, but if this is what it takes, to be  a drunk animal, then I don't want the girl. God there were so many girls, I missed. I can't figure out what I did wrong, I Was just in shock. I've never experienced something like that. I keep telling myself, at least I know what it's like and that's all I wanted.

Anyway, this was nothing like I imagined.

I'm wondering here... was it good or bad?

bad clubbing experience, dude, your friend ditched you on your first time, that is pretty bad, since you don't know what the fuck to do and were just overstressed by the magnitude of it all.

Have you gone to any lower key places, more chill, like bars, or smaller clubs that aren't quite so packed and randy? Build your way up maybe.

No. I don't really get out a whole lot. Just work and school. After today though, I don't think I'll ever go to a club again. It doesn't feel like it's for me. I can't do anything. I can't be wild or dance or anything. All I can do is talk, and you can't even hear me cause the music destroys my voice.

My friend, he just kept saying go dance, go dance. I'm just like ... ... ... terrified...

Don't let one bad experience get you down, trust me, you can have some really good times. Hell, I can't dance, but I'll groove to a tune, remember clubs also serve alcohol.... that can help to loosen you up.

You and FP need to take him out to a good one.

Yes, we do. We don't ditch people who go with us, especially if it is a new thing for them.

Mothering them I guess. :P

You sound like me when I was younger, except I would let the rhythm reverberate in my chest and dance to the beat.

Your story was funny and well written, and I can really tell you do like going to clubs, you just don't feel like you should compete for the affection of a woman. Hate to be the one who has to break it to you, but everything is funner when it's a competition.

My suggestion to you is, play up the relaxed nice guy angle. Learn to dance, work out to tone your muscles, and most of all, just be yourself. Most guys eliminate themselves at the beginning just because they can't be who they really are. Girls are really smart, they can sense when you're not who you are. Those girls probably were looking at you, but people meet each other halfway. Sooner or later, if you really want something, you have to go out and get it. Otherwise, you're gonna be stuck on these forums every night complaining about how much fun you didn't have the night before. Just something to think about.

CLubbing's not for everyone. I'm content just hanging with a friend or two anywhere. Occassionally I'll seek a crowd if I feel I need be alone, but that's all crowds are good for in my opinion. Don't feel out of place if you feel out of place where you don't think you should feel out of place. Give it another shot if you feel you need to, if not, don't worry about it. There are a million things you can do other than clubbing.
