Since this is the intellectual forum it has always made me think how many of you have ever tried a recreational drug aside from caffeine. This means alcohol, marijuana, LSD, shrooms, DMT, mescaline, illegal and unprescribed amphetamines, illegal and unprescribed opiates, MDMA, RC's, Salvia, ect. Since well you are intellectuals, I have always wondered how your views on recreation substances differ from the average "durgz r badz." Your views on this are always welcomes just try and keep away from insulting users.

I know that being an intellectual is supposed to mean we're slightly more intelligent or something but still, we're teenagers. People experiment because that curiosity element remains despite our internal moral codes. I've only ever tried alcohol but I haven't had it in years. I never really wanted to try the drugs. I don't know if I'm afraid or if I've just been brainwashed into thinking something horrible but I'm just not interested. I think it's alright to try it if you are responsible about it. We all know the consequences for doing drugs and as long as you keep those in mind while you go about your business then fine with me.

alcohol, of course, and i am willing to try more -- mainly shrooms my views on recreational drugs are mainly positive, i believe a lot of drugs are able to be used safely, unfortunately, people can't seem to use them sensibly a lot of the time

Alcohol and recreationall drugs. Like maghan91 said, we're teenagers, it's what teenagers do. And my argument is that some of the greatest minds were off their nut on drugs:-Shakespeare, Wilde, Keats

I usually just use alcohol and weed, but I guess if I ever had the chance to do anything more I would, to an extent. As for my views, I dont find too much wrong with it, people jsut want to have a good time and they have their different ways. I just hate when people put people in danger by driving or whatever.

Aside from the poor 'ahl teens r doin it!!' posts, let me say I am eighteen, and have never drank, nor done drugs out of personal morals. And I live in Washington state. At the second largest drug-county here. So, no. That is not a valid excuse.

I drink, occasionally, but never to the point of lying in the road throwing up. (Though it is humorous to watch other people do that. :P) However, I'd never take drugs, out of a personal choice. If others wish to, then I don't mind, even if it's people around me. The only thing I would mind is people smoking stuff around me, because of second hand smoke.

Recreational drugs? The very definition, is quite worrying.
-- Posted by Prince o palities at 5:48 pm on Aug. 25, 2007
Regular alcohol consumption, nicotine though never regularly, marijuana once, and some more that I don't feel like admitting to in my present state of grace.
-- Posted by barnabas at 5:49 pm on Aug. 25, 2007
I used to abuse Alcohol, and I used to smoke (cigs) regularly, and then irregularly. Nothing else that I am aware of.
-- Posted by espresso8097 at 6:01 pm on Aug. 25, 2007
The most I have done was about .25 cigarette and plenty of alcohol (whiskey and rum preferably).
-- Posted by Northstar at 7:54 pm on Aug. 25, 2007
Alcohol, mostly. Fuck the fucking fuckers. Spam, spam, spam, spam.

I drink to great excess on around four occasions weekly, occasionally light up a fag, and have seen the wonders of E and Mary Jane. I'm rather pro-choice, when it comes to drugs, and would love to get my hands on some psychedelics some time.

I've been pretty fucking drunk my share of times. I've smoked tobacco and weed on occasion. I've also played around with psychadelic drugs such as LSD and Shrooms, and have snorted the disassociatives DXM and Ketamine. I also inhaled nitrous one time but didn't get high enough to tell you what it's like.

How so? It simply means substances used to alter ones state of mind for the purpose of enjoyment. I most certainly take drugs like hallucinogens for spiritual purposes but many drugs I do for the sole purpose of having fun.

You've answered your own question. "But love is blind, and lovers cannot see The pretty follies that themselves commit."

Alcohol, tobacco, weed, shrooms, salvia, lsd, ecstasy, cocaine. By now I assume you're incredibly familiar with my views on substances.

I never plan on using recreational drugs, besides alcohol. I don't hold anything against drug users for this unless they either harm, disturb or irritate me in some way linked to their habit - but the same goes for car drivers, cyclists and everyone else. My reason for not planning to is I simply don't see the attraction (I only even drink very, very rarely) and have no wish to get out of my head in that way. At the moment. I'm not sure why. As I'm also a control freak, fear of being out of control or experiencing bad side effects may be a factor. Anyway, no, I have never tried anything, besides alcohol, and plan to go no further. I have nothing against drug users providing I'm left alone, but then it would be more disgust at the person rather than the fact that they were on drugs.

Alcohol I regularly drink to be sociable and have fun with my friends. I also smoke a joint (of marijuana) here or there but not that frequently. I'd like to try some 'harder' stuff like Shrooms or LSD. I could probably get access to them if I wanted to, I'm just waiting for the right time, I've heard LSD can seriously fuck you up if you have a bad trip. Though as Steve Jobs is my idol, and he said that taking LSD is one of the best things he ever did, I would like to try it before I die.

Alcohol regularly, Marijuana irregularly. I don't know if I'd try anything else to be honest.

At one point I did a lot of drugs. I still use alcohol, but that's all. Smoking always makes me sick now (as in with a cold) , just about every time. Still, I have no problem with people using drugs, as long as it harms no other.

Alcohols, weed, cig's thats about it As a certified LiveWire Intellectual you are indubitably capable of composing a more verbose post! I am?

I'm well educated and such, I'm probably older than most people on these forums. I usually hang out in the college forum, tech forum or whatever comes up in the fresh topics. I'm twenty-two, studied (successfully) computer science at a well respected Canadian university. Since leaving university I have tried MDMA and LSD. There's something to be said about the difference between drinking alcohol and becoming completely inebriated and the enlightenment that MDMA and LSD allow you to experience. I more regularly use MDMA, it's definitely my drug of choice for its ability to create a clear mind and be euphoric without being stupefied. I have no regrets, but I completely respect people that do not want to experience feelings/emotions beyond what our bodies are naturally capable of.

MDMA is truly a wonderful drug, it allows you to appreciate everything around you. Its so hard to describe the perfect connection that you undergo while on ecstasy. Though I could be bias, seeing how I am rolling right now, well coming down at least. LSD on the other hand allows you to thoroughly question life in general. It's almost mind blowing how it changes your perspective on the world. Its much more than just crazy distorted visuals. The thought process you achieve from it is phenomenal. People always say drugs change you, and I am beginning to see how they do. My change hasn't been for the worst, I am not some psychotic drug crazed fiend, I am not some raving meth addict, or some heroin abuser clawing at the floor. I am for the first time in my life spiritual even if its in my own way. From my perspective I am a lot more comfortable with the world after my hand full of acid trips, and countless excursions into other psychedelics. Drugs truly do change you or your belief system at least.

Must you throw quote at me? Why is it that people can so freely indulge in alcohol without being called an addict but as soon as one mentions their use of an illicit substance they are deemed as vile, repulsive, substance craving, scum? Or do you say the same about the man who sips his scotch and smokes a cigar while reading a novel. For the record, I mainly only use hallucinogens, I would love for you to find me a single case of a person addicted to shrooms or acid. Its impossible, the drug effects are too unpredictable to become addicted to. There is a difference between mind expansion tools and "for the moment" substances.
