If an SL hasn't replied to an e-help in, say a week or more, can they/do they lose their status?
-- Posted by iwashere85 at 8:36 pm on Oct. 11, 2007
No. eHelps are not counted. If a SL is not active online, for 60 days, they loose their status.

If it was like that, the SL count would likely be cut in half.

no, definitely not a week. you could go months without being noticed. and even if you don't reply to a lot you can make up for that to an extent with quality.

For those that help on the forums/PM? Yes. For those that were, in the past, hugely helpful? Yes. The others? No.

I think there should be some rule like that. Not a week though. A little longer.

It has been debated again and again. It always comes down to a few things. 1) People don't always help on eHelp. 2) People have bad months. 3) People go on vacation. 4) People can't be forced to make GOOD replies.

I don't reply to Ehelps that often because I'm not good at writing so much in one sitting. But I help on the forums and over PM when I can.

I agree to all, except 4. If a support leader is a support leader, they need to make good replies.

Exactly. Which is why you'd be getting screwed over if we forced people to reply to eHelps.

That wasn't what I meant. I mean if we start forcing people to make replies, would the quality of those replies go down? More than likely, yes.

Yeah. People would be doing them 'just to get them done' rather than to actually help. It would be idealistic though.

Agreed.

Forcing people to just reply, is not good. Then we will get the replies saying "Just doing my weekly eHelp, I hope everything goes okay" It would not work out.

eHelp doesn't constitute what a peer support leader is. Hardly does, did we get the status through eHelp no? eHelp is merely an option to better help people, but to rate an support leaders status purely on the idea of eHelp is definately flawed. eHelp is not a good way to determine whether a peer support leader should be demoted or not.

What's already been said is pretty much my opinion. I mean, a couple of weeks ago, I did about 20 ehelps in a week. This week, I've only done about 2, and they were only short ones. Does that make me a bad SL? No.

If a Support Leader never uses the eHelp and never makes an eHelp reply, there is probably an issue. We understand that not everyones wants to do it all the time, or is able to all the time, but if months go by and there isn't a single eHelp rating to their name, their account probably deserves a deeper look. Of course, we also take general activity and forum supportiveness into account. If someone replies to tons of supportive topics but not to eHelps, then that's probably fine.
