XP is good, but have been on vista didn't think much of it

-- Posted by Chevy Jackson at 11:39 am on Oct. 12, 2007

screw vista. i have it and i hate it. it makes my computer run slower, i needed to upgrade half my parts, and most of my games/printers/scanners/cameras/flashdrives/other peripherals arent compatible. vista doesnt even have windows help included; you have to download it from a third party website. stick with XP until microsoft realizes that vista needs some upgrades.

Windows XP Pro.

Vista is too much of a resource hog for me to use, for what I use my PC for. =P

XP Home

XP Media Center Edition. Looks better than other versions of XP (but you can get the MSSTYLE from Microsoft-it's called Luna).

I've used Vista Home Premium for a SHORT time, and didn't have enough exploring time.

-- Posted by Stormblazer at 7:02 pm on Oct. 13, 2007

XP Pro, of course.

Vista has too many bugs, and Vista home basic is... well, you'd be better off with windows 98. I'm not joking.

-- Posted by espresso8097 at 8:33 pm on Oct. 13, 2007

XP pro.

Once some bugs are gone and more system tweaks Ultimate x64 will be better.

Vista actually boots up faster than XP pro did on my machine.  Boots up in about the same amount of time Win2K Pro sp4 and Linux Mint take.

I'm gonna say XP pro because I've only used Vista once and it was on my friends new laptop and it went sooo slow. Maybe it was the computer but w/e.

Clearly you don't know what your talking about. The help is included, there isnt a single flash drive i can think of that doesn't work and Ive not had any issues getting printers/scanners and especially cameras working. And i did upgrade my machine, but had i not it would still have run. I only upgraded my machine because i wanted to do the two at the same time.

And it doesn't make the computer run slower...

As for the original post, i have Vista ultimate (which for some unknown reason you didn't mention...) and i was a bit unsure about getting it at first. Now i have it i wouldn't go back to XP.

About the flashdrives. For those of you who have a u3 flashdrive you need to upgrade the u3 software otherwise it wont work in vista. (That is if you have a password on it)

Vista can slow down computers much more as its more of a resource hog than XP.

I see no difference between run speeds between XP and Vista Ultimate x64.  My computer isn't that powerful either, AMD64 3500+, 1.5GB RAM, 256mb 8600GT.  I suffer no slowdown due to operating system load.

I have actually noticed that Vista is booting up faster that XP ever did on my computer.  But, Windows 2K pro still boots the fastest of my Windows boots.  Fast boot comes from LinuxMint.

Same here

I upgraded to vista home premium due to instability in XP. Never going back. If your system is capable of running it, get vista. Otherwise, stick with XP.

XP, Vista is a resource hog even if you strip it down to the basics.

-- Posted by obvious child at 12:38 am on Jan. 4, 2008

I ain't switching to Vista till it's absolutely necessary.

-- Posted by marshmellowman at 7:16 am on Jan. 4, 2008

Leopard FTW!

-- Posted by Link01 at 9:48 am on Jan. 4, 2008

Curretnly xp after they clear more and more bugs out of vista the answer is vista

-- Posted by Mieux at 9:43 am on Jan. 5, 2008

I like Vista, but it doesn't work well with my laptop's sound card. I installed the vista driver for it, but it still doesn't work right. Sound skips and it's screwy.

I'm getting XP reinstalled.

eh
