This is always a touchy subject, but I am interested to know what you think is the worst way to die. I am sorry if I do not include all of them, if you select the "other" option, please explain why. I am sorry this is in the Intellectual forum, but the answers are usually better since there is a minimum.

Murder, in particular sawing, is perhaps the worst way to die.

-- Posted by iwashere85 at 3:34 pm on Oct. 15, 2007

Honestly, I would choose drowning. It is not that physically painful, but if you think about it, it is so bad to hold your breath underwater for a minute, imagine 4 or 5..

-- Posted by ApatheticKiller at 3:35 pm on Oct. 15, 2007

Um, it would probably an other but since drowning was there I thought it'd be easier....if it was other it'd just be like all kinds of torture so that seemed like cheating.  That's why I voted drowning.  Not being able to breath is just shitty.

-- Posted by drifting at 3:36 pm on Oct. 15, 2007

I voted terminal disease, but I actually dont think that would be the worse way. You would at least get to say good bye and come to terms with death.

Now, drowning, its slow, Im afraid of water, and you would just suffer the entire time. Does not sound like fun at all. I would have to say that drowning would be the worse way. At least for me.

Drowning, and other forms of asphyxiation. I really, really hate the feeling of an inability to breathe, more than I do the sensation of heat, or laceration, etc...

-- Posted by airemaye at 3:44 pm on Oct. 15, 2007

A disease such as Ebola, I guess.

Bleeding out of every orifice in your body until you basically melt into a pile of blood and guts and germs cannot be pleasant.

That or getting tortured to death.

-- Posted by Micus at 3:50 pm on Oct. 15, 2007

Any way of dying sucks, it's all horrible circumstances that result in death. Ultimately the way you die doesn't matter, as you won't be alive afterwards to remember it. Think back to that saw method... we "go under the knife" all the time, but we're never awake to remember it, so it's as if it never happened.

For me, I think some form of terminal illness, such as Ebola, HIV or malaria would be the worst, as you are conscious throughout most of it, and see a slow degradation to the point of demise.

Terminal disease because it takes so long and you see yourself and others suffer.. I'd HATE to die that way.

-- Posted by espresso8097 at 5:03 pm on Oct. 15, 2007

I would hate terminal disease because it is a long process.  Drowning or burning would be close.

How about:
Bravely bold Sir Robin rode forth from Camelot
He was not afraid to die, O brave Sir Robin
He was not at all afraid to be killed in nasty ways
Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Robin
He was not in the least bit scared to be mashed into a pulp
Or to have his eyes gouged out and his elbows broken
To have his kneecaps split and his body burned away
And all his limbs hacked and mangled, brave Sir Robin
His head smashed in and his heart cut out
And his liver removed and his bowels unplugged
And his nostrils raped and his bottom burnt off and his penis...
He is brave Sir Robin,
Brave Sir Robin who...
To fight and...............
Brave Sir Robin ran away
Bravely, ran away...away...
When danger reared its ugly head
He bravely turned his tail and fled
Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about
And gallantly he chickened out
Bravely talking to his feet
He beat a very brave retreat
Bravest of the brave, Sir Robin

Um, read lyrics to a Cannibal Corpse song.......
Either that or (This might sound imaginary) having your skin burned off by acid or some other substance.

-- Posted by Briily at 4:06 pm on Oct. 16, 2007

I'd have to choose burning.  If you were completely surrounded in fire, every one of your touch receptors would be going off at the exact same time.  Your skin would slowly "melt" away and it would take at least 3 minutes for you to actually die (though you would probably faint from the pain beforehand.)  Being tortured by another man or dieing from a terminal disease would come next.  I don't think drowning would be a horrible way to die.  After about the first 2 minutes, your body would have so little oxygen that you would feel too dizzy to feel it that much.  Plus, there is one thing that all life requires-water.  Why not go out the way you were kept alive?  It would cancel out the feeling of needing something your entire life and not being self-sustained.  You are able to live to a certain extent without food but if you don't have anything to drink for just one week, you'll end up dead.  Why keep the feeling of being a dependent being?  Its just like being a parasite..

-- Posted by allsmiles at 4:10 pm on Oct. 16, 2007

Pain receptors are burned out quite quickly, actually. You'd probably faint from the heat more than the pain, and the fear would probably be worse. Still a nasty, nasty way to go, though...

eviscerated via dull plastic spoon.

Worst way. Ever.

-- Posted by Jettie12 at 4:35 pm on Oct. 16, 2007

Having your intestines pulled out and just bleeding to death is a pretty horrible way to go.

On the whims of Jigsaw would probably be the worst of all, if he was an actual person.

-- Posted by griefstrickengirl at 5:39 pm on Oct. 16, 2007

I would say terminal disease. The whole time you're going through life, you know that you're going to die; you just don't know when.

-- Posted by Three Marleans at 1:53 pm on Oct. 17, 2007

Call me simple-minded, but I can't choose which is more unpleasant between burning, a gruesome death, or drowning.

-- Posted by Loud Dog at 3:00 pm on Oct. 17, 2007

The worst way to die? Fuck, the choices! Alone? Before your time? No, wait. Gutshot! I'm going with gutshot.

I knew a guy who got gutshot. Man didn't die, but he tells me when you be stumblin' along holdin' in you intestines, you wishin' you did.

-- Posted by obvious child at 4:41 pm on Oct. 17, 2007

The absolute best one:

bleeding out through your ears from a three way argument between Cutemira, Yankee fan and Moridin.

-- Posted by Neugen at 9:16 pm on Oct. 17, 2007

Dieing right after you discover all you did was for nothing.

Isn't that just life in general?

-- Posted by exceedinglyrare at 9:43 am on Oct. 18, 2007

For me, it was between fire or drowning.

When it comes to a terminal disease, there are things that can be done to make your last days more comfortable and make the dying process less frightening and less painful (particularly because you know it's coming, so that you can prepare for it). Murder, depending on how it's done, can be quick and painless, and while not exactly lacking scariness, it's certainly not as terrifying to me as being lit on fire or slowly having your lungs fill with water.

-- Posted by bourney at 9:50 am on Oct. 18, 2007

Burning, drowning is relatively quick (8 seconds im told???), but being burnt to death, wow that would suck.

-- Posted by Chava at 10:17 am on Oct. 18, 2007

I said a man inflicted death but I need to elaborate since being shot in the head or poisoned (obviously depending on the scenario) wouldn't be that bad. I'm talking about beheading with something similar to a steak knife, burning to death after having gasonline poured on you, or being shot/stabbed in the stomach and left to bleed to death for hours.

plane crash since i hate heights or force lightning lol.

Well for me it would be a toss up between a terminal illness such as cancer and burning to death.
My mother died from cancer and its a slow and painful way to go. Its horrible. Your body literally dies from the inside out.
Burning would hurt like hell as well.
Drowning is supposed to be quite peaceful. And lastly, murder would hopefully be fairly quick.

drowning in boiling water with oil on fire above you. (i could add more but that definitely not the worst but a mix of the options)
