Fellow SL's, I'm curious to know your opinions about the recent update about us not being able to hide anon posts. Davjs: This month, LiveWire moderators were asked to vote on the following question: "Should Support Leaders be able to hide anonymous posts" The resounding answer was that though support leaders are highly qualified individuals, that some actions like hiding anonymous posts should be left in the care of moderators. I believe this to be in part because moderators can investigate further into the identity of the anonymous poster, thus they have a better idea as to whether it should be removed or not. Thanks everyone!

Yes, just not anonymous messages. One sec, I'll find message.

ah, i missed that part of the message. I am fine with that. Abuse of the annonymous feature should be dealt with by mods...

I'm really not worried about it. It's not like I see an anony. post and I'm itching to hide it. I have no problem leaving it to the little blue men.(women) In other news: Is anyone else's lw messed up? My smileys aren't showing up nor are those dots on the fresh topics list there for me. The eHelp thing is gone too. When I first signed on I thought I had been demoted.

It doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I dislike the feature anyway and rarely (if ever) use it, so it really makes no difference to me.

I voted for the better. Support Leaders cannot view who the anonymous posters are, so we really cannot decide if it is truly abuse of anonymous or not. Good Choice. :P

Abuse of anonymous, I agree with: only mods should be able to hide for those. After all, it does actually matter a great deal who's behind the mask in those cases. Posts that happen to be anon., though, I would be fine with SLs hiding, though I agree that they should be reported. I can't say I'm delighted about this, but at the end of the day I'm outvoted. Fair's fair.

This isn't a new development. It has always been that y'all shouldn't touch anonymous posts. However, since some support leaders refused to believe that fact (even after repeatedly being told by mods), I messaged David (as did a few other people, I believe) and requested he formally send everyone a message. He held the vote to see where everyone stood once and for all, and the outcome was the same as it had always been. Hopefully now, such an answer will be enough for some of the... uh... hard headed. I'd really hate to get congress to weigh in on this issue.

For better. Why take such a risk? And especially because mods can't see whether a post was anonymous, after it's hidden, apparently.
