What aint wrong with WINME i find it very unstable and very shitty its crashes alot

WINME=Windows Mankey :p

-- Posted by smiley at 6:05 pm on Feb. 6, 2003

Windows ME is SHIT. I find Win2K to be the best version of Windows yet, but I prefer linux.

-- Posted by Spanky at 1:36 am on Feb. 7, 2003

I use linux for my windowns domain controller (oh yeah!  :D ) Some dogey embedded OS in my DHCP box, win2k AS for work, win XP pro for play and win98 as a print server (these are all on diffrent machines (no dual booting).

-- Posted by vitamin at 8:04 am on Feb. 7, 2003

Yes i know what u mean No dual booting its much better ;)

-- Posted by Spanky at 1:18 pm on Feb. 7, 2003

Dual booting is annoying, Take the RedHat manual.. its good at tellin ya how 2 dual boot to start with but its hidden away in the midsts of the manual when u wanna un-linux ure partion table.

-- Posted by vitamin at 2:11 pm on Feb. 7, 2003

;) I know exactly what you mean its a real pain in the a$$ ;)

-- Posted by trakal at 3:59 pm on Feb. 7, 2003

I'm currently running Debian sid on all of the computers in the house. The family system (for internet use), my laptop and my desktop (which i sometimes use as storage). I'm going to be installing SourceMage GNU/Linux which is really good, I had some problems with it but they upgraded the sorcery (ye!!). It's kind of like Gentoo GNU/Linux.

I have no idea why you didn't list MacOS, OSX, BEOS, *BSD, or many other good alternative operating systems. Not everyone runs Windows or GNU.

I have WINME and it hasn't crashed on me. I only use it as gaming and music, and the rare times i decide to write my reports for school.

-- Posted by vitamin at 3:44 pm on Feb. 14, 2003

U wait it will carsh..... know seriously the amount of problems I have ahd with Winme is just mad.... it dont like all my patched and cracked games were as win2000 pro does!!!!

-- Posted by smiley at 3:50 pm on Feb. 14, 2003

ME is evil but one thing I admit, it is the fastest loading Windows system I have tried to date.

-- Posted by vitamin at 4:03 pm on Feb. 14, 2003

O yes its quick to load..... But i would rather it took a while longer to load and got the system stabilty i require... such as win 2k :D

-- Posted by smiley at 4:13 pm on Feb. 14, 2003

Win2k is great heh.

(Edited by smiley at 7:14 pm on Feb. 14, 2003)

Me too! I've Used it about 2 1/2 years and it has absoultly NEVER ever crashed!

it dont like all my patched and cracked games

Oh like its supposed to work with them

-- Posted by MoDuS at 8:55 am on Feb. 15, 2003

Often times patches and cracks have viruses in them, maybe thats why it was crashing for you.

-- Posted by smiley at 11:25 am on Feb. 15, 2003

WindowsME regularly crashed on drivers, LEGAL versions of Nero's Burning Rom, it's probably fine and dandy for those who want to listen to music and surf the internet but try running, Photoshop, Cool Edit Pro or 3D Studio Max on it.

-- Posted by vitamin at 1:16 pm on Feb. 15, 2003

I know I have 3D Max and photoshop and christ its a nightmare....

By the way i take offence of MoDuS comment... how dumb do u think i am....... viruses i check all cracks etc..... Jesus some ppl DO U THINK I AM DULL!!!!

-- Posted by LOLatMe at 1:23 pm on Feb. 15, 2003

I've found that 3ds max crashes quite a bit no matter what operating system you use.  (Quite a bit being once every 15 hours on average, which is painful in the middle of a render)

Maya is sooo much better.  Lightwave is pretty good too.

-- Posted by vitamin at 4:12 pm on Feb. 15, 2003

Yes, I have heard that maya is better..... but I aint so sure yet

You forgot about the lovable BSD Distros, like FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, and Darwin (i386 ver base of Mac OS X)...

My systems:

Server -- FreeBSD 4.7 -- I modified kernel a bit (the code, not configuration)

Desktop -- RH Linux 8 & FreeBSD 5.0 w/ kernel modification

Laptop #1 -- FreeBSD 4.6 w/ kernel modification for Network Card PCMCIA support

Laptop #2 (not mine, step mom's "backup") -- Windows 2000 Professional, no service packs.. lame windows
