Why would they treat you weird? College is totally different than highschool. I personally wouoldnt have taken a year off, just because then you get in the routine of not having school and tend to forget things.

The odd snob my cast you a curt glance, but generally, people won't care. Most people have trouble paying for college, and they go about it in different ways. You chose to help do so by taking a gap year, which finances aside, is not uncommon.

Nah, I took a year off and was just fine. The issue never really came up and when it did, somehow, no one seemed to mind. Most people usually just nodded or said, "That's cool."

i don't think so because most of them did the same thing and that is what i am going to do

You're not alone with this decision. There are plenty of other students that are choosing to do the same, simply because high school years have seemed like a drag and, therefore, wish for some time off; some "hang-out" time. Nevertheless, you shouldn't let this time go past that one year. I know plenty of dudes that choose to take a year off, but then that year turns into three. Also, keep in mind that college isn't age biased. There are people in their early thirties to mid forties in college. So no, you will not be treated any differently. Just expect a completely different life when you're in college, especially if you plan on living on campus. You are held responsible for all your actions, which can be quite a task in itself. However, this does not mean that college isn't fun. Its fuckin awesome! Enjoy your time off!
