I Know how that is

80-90, I'm pretty fast. I've been typing for a long time, but I don't type that fast when I don't really need to. I normally go really slow.

Hey,

80-90 would beat our quickest typer...She types like 70-80 some words a minute or whatever...  I'm acutally sick of taking this computer class I thought it would be more fun... ut me and this girl play 3D Pinball and try to beat each others high scores thats all the fun in that class...Besides typing forever... And its stuff like fjf fjf fjf gets really boring...

Later.

On average, 75-85 WPM.  It's peaked at 120 WPM.

Yes sir.  :)

Sad part is this is all nothing.  A friend of mine types at 90-110 wpm consistantly which is about the limit of the qwerty keyboard.  If you get on the dvorak or maybe a natural evolution keyboard you can type upwards of 160-200 wpm I believe.

-- Posted by speedy66 at 8:14 pm on Sep. 4, 2003

My mom seems to type twice as fast as me so

I can't type worth shit. 25-35wpm maybe. I've never taken any classes, I've only had practice online, chatting and stuff.

I dont really have that great form for typing coherent languages.  my typing style usually revolves aroun the kind that one uses to code php.  anywho, i am more of a graphical person.  i havent typed much except for the tons of essays i do, but other than that, its eoither coding, or PSing or 3dsmax-ing, etc

i do definately lean towards the artistic side.  thats why i rely on windows and INtel to provide me w/ the necessary power to do cool stuff.  macs just let me down.  i tried to allocate more ram to PS on a mac, but, it still crtapped up.  heh, the OS is such a resource drain

I type 60-70, and it depends on the difficulty of text. I used the first typing tutor I found in Yahoo - Yesolo or something like that, don't rememer, the rest is practice.

-- Posted by gotdilbert at 11:35 pm on Oct. 19, 2003

Lukily I can type around 120 wpm when I know what I'm going to type, when I don't really know what I'm typing, I can only get 70-80.  I can get around 160 with the DVORAK keyboard layout.  Check it out (dvorak on google).

-- Posted by riddleoflife at 8:08 am on Oct. 24, 2003

well about 30 wrds per minute with out trying and if its free typing then i can type 60 wrds per minute and average i can get 40 words per minute with out even trying.

-- Posted by Cerberus at 5:52 pm on Oct. 28, 2003

I can type about 90 words a minute, my accuracy isn't great though it is about 90% at that speed.  Not to mention i use an ergonomical keyboard and am so use to it now that whenever i switch to standard my TWPM drops.  Oh well.

It is the computer key design.  QWERT (The top line of letters on your left hand side) was designed specifically to keep typewriter keys from jamming when people typed to fast.  As you can see, a lot of the letters that we use the most aren't in the most convieniant place.

DVORAK is a different setting of the keys, that is made specifically for computer keyboards.  But, learning one style and then trying to learn another gets rather hard.  QWERT is still your standard key style.

I'm not sure about the natural evolution keyboard myself.  It might be an ergonomical keyboard.  Because of the way the keys are layed out (same QWERT style, but are layed out curved in order to lessen the stress on your wrists.) that might be what the reference is for.

I've always been tempted to switch to DVORAK, but I'm way too lazy to learn a whole new system of typing.  :D

On gtypist (ncurese program) I'm getting around 40-50 words per minute. Though it's mostly typing exactly what they give me. So it's kind of hard to say what my real typing speed is as far as actually typing things as in example of what I have just typed.

Yeah, well, not only the time to learn, but you also have to un learn everything that QWERT programed your fingers for.  Granted DVORAK is a quicker key set up.  If you haven't grown up learning it, it will take a lot of time to get used to it.  Also the fact that almost any keyboard that you run into is still QWERT doesn't help matters any.

aha, but one does not need the dvorak KB to type in that layout.  Just set your KB layout in language and KB settings in control panel, and behold, there is the dvorak KB reafy for your use.  just dont look at the keys ;)
