Okay, this is "somewhat" of a follow up to a topic I posted here a long time ago.

So, I was too slow on making a firm decision back then, and someone else was chosen.  So, I went back to school, and am in my last semester before getting my bachelor's degree.

I got an e-mail from my former boss (from when I was interning at ESPN, for those who didn't go and read the first post), asking if I would be interested in a position with his department.  Of course, I replied that I was interested, and responded to his question of when I was due to graduate (May 16th).  He replied to me, asking "Can you graduate any sooner?"  So, basically, it sounds like they have a semi-immediate need for someone, and can't wait until May.  This department rarely gets new employees (they said about every 2 years, when I was there), so I know this might be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Like I said earlier, I'm in my last semester of college.  All of my classes are in the division of my major, and when I was originally considering this job last summer, I had approval from my professors to complete my degree via correspondence.  I am assuming that offer will stand if I ask again, except for the possibility that I would need to fly home to present my senior project.

I should note that all of my friends and family are currently 5 hours or less away (by car; less than an hour by plane), and this job is on the other side of the country (8+ hours by plane).  I know very few people in the area, so it'd be a totally new start for me, in a relatively unfamiliar place.  I know I'd be doing that in May or June anyway, but I had intended to have this whole semester for closure, and if I take this job, my closure may now only be a month or so.

So, my question is, should I decline the job, if they want me to leave early, or should I go?

How much do you want this job? Is this what you're really looking for? Could you think of a more ideal position for you?

Go for it! Why hold back? I mean yes it's a big step from everyone and everything, but it could ultimately make you really happy.

You should go.
