a malware thing suddenly popped up while i was using my laptop saying something about my laptop probably having a virus if it was running slow. so i didnt think and i clicked in it and ran the test and it told me i had about....7 viruses in my laptop. then i came to my senses and closed all the windows from that because i realized i had never downloaded any malware-anythings before. so i ran my own test using AVG and it told me the laptop is clean. i should have ignored the malware thing when it popped up right? and should i have anything to worry about since i actually clicked it and opened it. also, my AVG test says there isnt anything 'deadly' in my laptop, so i should be safe right...? thanks.

It was likely just a lot of popup ads trying to scare you (into buying their product?). Try ad-aware and/or spybot Search & Destroy if you wnat to be absolutely certain, and be sure to keep any antivirus or simialr products up to date.

Quite true. Ignore such sites - it's just a way to promote their services. It's a silly trick, but still, do exactly what the person I'm quoting says.

We all click on a wrong link now and then, but I would personally not be worried at all. I let AVG run every night, do all anti-spyware measures plus a rootkit revealer now and then. Now, one piece of advice, legal or not - if you do download software from torrent sites, never install it right then. AVG usually needs some time (up to three weeks) to get some new virus signatures (usually trojans in illegal keygens). As long as they just sit there, nothing will happen.

well, on my old computer, i clicked on one of those, and my whole computer crashed the instant the program started doing a system scan, but since yours didn't crash after you did it, then i don't think its possible that you have a virus.
