When you're feeling down, depressed, and the such, is that when you feel the most helpful? It is for me. K, well, i'm either working on a shit load of eHelps tonight, or getting fucked up. 'Night.

Depends on the reason of my sadness.

When I'm depressed or down I generally don't go online. I like to relax and think about life for a while. I'm most helpful to others when I'm mindful and don't have my personal problems to interupt the consistency of my advise. A clear mind of calm observation is needed for good advise in my life.

No, I feel the least helpful then... personally, my mom's come to visit, and it's amazing how those depressive feelings I left behind after moving out have come back... I mean, don't get me wrong, I wasn't abused or anything, my parents just didn't get along... having my mom around just seems to bring back the pain from before... (but hey, I'm still happy that I get to see her for a month! she just says things that gets me down)... That being said, I feel useless when I'm like this, and I try to avoid helping. I can usually push the feeling aside though to try and help someone else out... I just feel like I won't be answering as many as I used to for a little while :(.

i find i'm more open to being helpful when i'm intellectually frustrated about my own emotional issues. not really when i'm simply feeling down.

Nope, I feel useless when I'm like that. I often get upset or feel like shit about a certain aspect of my life and when I'm like I'm in no frame of mind to give thoughtful and really helpful replies to people simple because I just either can't be assed, or because I can't concentrate. I find it best to answer them when I'm relaxed and happy in myself, that way I can think about what I'm doing.

At the moment I am seldom in the mood for eHelp/Serious Forum... when I'm really down, I tend just to read random topics and not post. I normally am more helpful when I'm in a good(ish) mood.

Not really. I have these "supportive sprees" I go on, and I spend hours helping. Then, there are days where I am just like, "fuck this world."

I am the same. When I'm feeling down or a little sad, i tend to reply to more e-helps. It gives me some sort of energy.

No. When I feel down, I poke around LW and post in random threads. I don't trust myself to give good advice.
