Can someone describe to me what happens to someone with schizophrenia when they fall in love, what do they feel and how do they acknowledge the feelings? Is falling in love the same as someone who does not suffer from schizophrenia? Even if you know someone personally with schizophrenia and know of their feelings to the above question, could you please respond. Falling in love is something that is not going to be a uniform experience (even for people with common mental disorders). There may, perhaps be similar traits with love for people with schizophrenia. It's important to remember that they're individuals just like the rest of us. How does anyone feel when they fall in love? Your question is very general. People with schizophrenia might experience symptoms such as thought disorder, perceptual & attentional distortions, emotional disturbance, deteriorating life functioning including loss of social contact, hallucinations, delusions, bizzare behavior, apathy and withdrawal. Obviously, these common symptoms might make it difficult for people with schizophrenia to form good, lasting relationships. ie love. -- Posted by words at 12:20 am on Mar. 21, 2008 That's why I want to understand if falling in love is difficult emotionally or is it to express the same emotions as everyday people (trying to say this really carefully without labelling, apologies if I offend), understanding their circumstances.
