Someone got me thinking when I was looking at an eHelp, Why do you help people?

I help people because when I needed advice badly, I didn't have it and hade to cope by myself. And that SUCKS. So I don't want that to happen to other people.

Discuss. :)

because i feel an intellectual and emotional connection with them that i enjoy

Because I feel the urge to do it, because I'm human and I have emotions.... Because I care.

Because I feel like I've had more than my fair share of help with some very trivial problems that bothered me greatly. If small problems can send me into a depression, big ones must be even worse for other people. I need to ease my conscience as well. I'm a bitch.

I'm good at pretending to care about people I really dislike and making them feel that I genuinely care about what happens in their life.

Once in a while I find a post by someone that I immediately like (or someone that I like prior), and those are the people that I help more regularly than the above. I won't assist someone that doesn't need help, because that's redundant like hell.

Because... I don't know. When I (try to) help people with certain issues, it's generally because knowing that someone is feeling that rubbish is so terribly sad and I'd do anything to let them know that they're not alone, that someone can understand, that someone cares, and that there's still hope.

Really though, I don't know why I try to help. It's not something I confine only to LiveWire - in all areas of my life I try to support people, so I guess I do it because it's just part of who I am. It would feel wrong not to help.

Because I care.

I care.

I hate helping myself, i cant bring myself to do it - but it makes me sad when i see others suffering and if i know i could do something to help, i will. I cant help it.

I help people because, well, when I am upset about something, it makes me feel better to help someone else. It also is a good feeling to know that you are actually doing something that may effect or help someone else in their life. :)

It's helped me feel as if I have something to hold on to. Helping people has helped me to see a intense situation and seeing there is a way to get help. It helps me feel good, when I know I was able to help that situation, I'm able to cope on my own situation.

Because there was one day that I realized I had become the very thing which was causing most of low self-confidence problems. I vowed to stop and become a part of the positive group.

Sounds pretty ghetto and sappy, but true.

Purely selfish reasons.

1- Ignore what's going on here.
2- Kick out of making other people feel better.
