A penny saved really is a penny earned. Your job probably pays you some dollars and some cents. The cents add up.
Say you get $257.97 for one pack check. Well if you have three cents in a coin jar, stick it in your account and you now have $300 from just three pennies. Once, I was starving, my parents were out of the country so I could get no help, my bad credit meant I could not get a loan, and I found six pennies, the day before I was to get my paycheck. By buying a penny candy (a five cent piece of chocolate), I was able to stave off hunger until I got my paycheck. Pennies are not worthless! Have a hundred of them lying around and you have a dollar! Put some pennies in a savings account, leave them there for years and years and you will earn like  five dollars in interest.

Eh with the American dollar's value dropping like a lead weight in a year you'd be able to melt penny's down for the metal and make a profit.

-- Posted by audrey820 at 10:52 am on Mar. 26, 2008

257.97 + 3 pennies =/= $300

Not in a year. Maybe in ten. Still my Irish cousin's posess Euros worth twice the value of an American dollar.

Does anyone not think money is a bit pointless though, it seems like with no money, you die, that's it, why not just stop making money, let people have stuff for free and everyone will be happy.

If that was the case, people would take too much and there would be none left. Any people wouldn't be motivated to work so there wouldn't be any food in the first place. Food in groceries come from somewhere, factories. People who work in those factories wouldn't be motivated to work if there was no money. It's a circular cycle. Money is really important. The difference between life and death.

Because most of the world is too lazy/greedy it'd never work. So they need some type of motivation ie. money.

I was afraid someone would say that. I just think that with people suffering so much financially there must be a way to get some people more money. The government have loads and so do many other people around the world.

Our government is seriously in debt to other countries. Instead of having a lot of money, they are debted a lot of money.

Why can't they just let it go? It's only paper. I really don't like to see people suffer and die because they don't have lots of paper in their wallet.

True! Do you know there are 7million british pennies dropped everyday in the UK that people don't pick up, if you went around picking up all the 'loose change' you'd be a millionaire!

Sure give it a bad name abd it's gonna sound bad, but there's more than 1 path to the house.

And i don't think having everyone as equal is a bad thing.

I think it'd take decades to do that without commercial help.. and if I had help from the government or people, they'd want a share and then I'd only end up with maybe £1000 :P

-- Posted by Dexter Ward at 11:13 am on Mar. 26, 2008

Communism is a great idea on paper, the problem is humans for the most part aren't willing to share equally, they're greedy, so until human kind changed it'll probably never work outside of a small area, say a family or maybe a small village.

-- Posted by ImSoHappy at 11:17 am on Mar. 26, 2008

Well the greedy people should be cast away from society, or taken somewhere and killed.

They scare people away from from murder with the death penalty, so do the same here. The government seem to be able to make people believe anything. Whatever the government say, people have to live by, that seems like a dictatorship to me.
