Hi everyone, I'm in a really difficult situation right now. I live in a really old house with 4 other guys at college. I was all alone on Friday and I was doing laundry. Without warning, the pipe delivering water to the washing machine burst open, spraying water all over the basement and threatening to flood. I tried my best to shut off the water myself, but I had to call one of my roommates to come home and shut off the water supply for me. By this point, half of the basement was slightly flooded, but I managed to clean up the flood. Now, 2 of my roommates (whose parents own the house) are holding me completely accountable. It seems they have no trust in me and put all the blame on this incident on me rather than the faulty pipes, as though I deliberately cut them open. As a punishment I can't do laundry in the house anymore, but I'm really concerned that these 2 roommates of mine are being really mean to me. They are always really cold to me now whenever I talk to them. (Note that my other 2 roommates understand it wasn't my fault). What can I do to re-gain their trust and be on a good relationship with them, despite the fact that I'm totally innocent in this matter? Note that I am moving out in 1 month, but I want to still be on good terms with them! Thanks!

Since they obviously don't believe YOU, maybe you can convince your roommates who are on your side to talk to them.

seems that they just don't wanna take the accountability of something and pay for it themselves... THey are a jerk!

To be honest, its them not you. If they want to believe its your fault they will. So to you can't really do much. I would just be normal around them and hope they come to there senses.
