So my boyfriend is an insomniac and he also has pretty bad ADD. Consequently he can never fall asleep when he's supposed to but has a real knack at falling asleep in the most inappropriate places. We'll take naps together sometimes at night if we're both really tired and Friday night we actually cuddled/slept in his bed for a few hours. While we don't have sex and won't be (not while we're dating) I've noticed he falls asleep really easily when he's with me. I wonder if I should offer to let him sleep over once or twice so he can get his sleeping pattern back to normal? I know he's a self-proclaimed stickler for obeying visitation rules but I don't think he cares nearly as much as he used to say he did. What do you guys think? Tell him he can sleep over once or twice?

I had intense insomnia two summers ago. Tell him to try herbal tea. It really worked for me.

I wouldnt see why not really... If it helps him in the long run; do it.

I certainly don't see anything wrong with it as long as it's okay with your roommates. (assuming you have them)

Surely it's unhealthy to not sleep.

yeah, I have a single right now (well it's a double but it was too small so she moved into a bigger room with her friends). I think I might offer the suggestion to him and I would offer herbal tea to him (I actually have some sleepy-time tea) but he hates tea...he loves to drink mountain dew, which might be part of the reason he's constantly up.

What? The question was whether it was okay to ask him to sleep over.

I suppose I should read more than the first sentence.

yeah I think she was confused lol. I just ignored that last part and took into account her advice on tea (which was good)

Yeah sure um I think theres something underlying in his insomnia if he can fall asleep easier with you I mean girlfriends are somewhat calming lol. Is he stressed out or something or anxiety or anything? Might explain awhole a lot.

If you can trust him then yeah, let him. Try to find the cause of the lack of sleep though. Usually there's a reason.

Agreed. Perhaps he feels more relaxed and at ease with you, if there's other stuff going on with him? Honestly though, I think it's a good idea. I suffer from insomnia too (haven't slept in 42 hours or so, currently) and I always feel dead on my feet. Even catching a few hours with you will surely do him good.

yeahhh. Actually he's really stressed out because 1) his grades are suffering in part because he's not getting enough sleep! 2) his family is struggling financially 3) he's not gonna graduate in may with his class so he has to take another semester 4) he's stressed about this weekend because he has to go home and i'm coming as well to help clean and whatnot because of tenets that didn't pay and financial issues that go along with 5) he was supposed to be the light and sound techie for this big youth conference being held at our school this weekend but he can't because he HAS to go home so he has to make it really easy for other people to work.

Is that your own initiative? or was it his idea?
