Salliemae.com, Fasfa, scholarships, and parents.

You need a cosigner for loans.

It's a terrible idea. There are tons of wealthy lonely males out there.

You should be able to take out a student loan without a credit history I believe.
You can try and get a scholarship as well.

Why don't you try doing some fundraising?
Look for a different job that will pay you more?

-- Posted by snowfish at 10:55 am on April 4, 2008

apply for financial aid. If your parents really don't have the money, you'll get financial aid. You can take out student loands/government loans without credit history, I did it. i\Get in contact with the school and explain you situation. I'm sure they do some type of financial aid.

Also, apply for scholarships. There are tons of them out there, a quick google search will find some, but also look for some specific to you, your school, or your interests. There are soooo many scholarships out there that people just don't apply for.

Also ask your school for work study. If you can get jobs like building monitors, you can work and still be doing hw.

I hope some of this helps.

-- Posted by Keltic Fighter at 10:57 am on April 4, 2008

Financial Aid.

-- Posted by CeriseGlitterspark at 10:58 am on April 4, 2008

Appply for a Scholarship. And you don't need a credit history for a student loan.

Financial aid and American student loans don't work abroad.

Sorry, go to an American college. It's not worth it to become destitute trying to go abroad unless you're going to a top school (which you're not). Not to mention that the flights home alone would break the bank.

chelsea school of design university of arts london isnt a top school? Lol what makes you say this? Is it because it isnt oxford or cambridge and those are the only foreign schools you know?

-- Posted by TheatreMinelli at 5:55 am on April 5, 2008

UAL is not a top school. Beleive me. You would have been better off applying for an arts programme at a UoL uni like Goldsmiths. Sorry but thats the truth. Or if you were going to UAL you should have applied to St Martins or LCF. They are the only too really worth getting yourself destitute over.

Hmmmm not too sure about trying out all of the schools. Goldsmiths has a better reputation within the arts community than most of the UAL schools. Also something to think about is that UAL does not offer accomodation so it will be more expensive to find a flat or house or whatever in London whereas places in UoL offer halls especially to overseas students.

actually university of arts london does offer housing especially to overseas students, yes it is 40 minutes outside of downtown by train, but o well. Please tell me where you are getting your information about Chelsea school of design and goldsmiths, i very much want to read it please, im a little sceptical but also i believe you a little.

But im sure UAL is a fine school, I don't care if it's not the top program in the country, it's more just about I want to live in the UK rather than america and this is a good (maybe not top) arts program in the country

It's really a sad situation. And there is no real easy answer.

You have to find a few different income streams for yourself including online and offline job opportunities; of course scholarships if you qualify - but so many people don't.

I really don't like the idea of student loans because I don't think it's fair that college kids have to have a huge loans looming over their head as soon as they graduate.
