You could download the trial from their website, or you could download the free Open Office Suit.

Open Office works very similarly, and can open most Word files.

if you want to create new documents, OpenOffice is enough.
if you want to open .doc files, get the Word Viewer for free.
if you want to edit, OpenOffice may be a bad idea, it doesn't perfectly support Word formats. Try Wordpad too.
