couldn't give blood today... why? because I had a sexual partner who was the same sex as me at some point in the past 12 months. haha, I understand people are scared to death of HIV...but straight people get it too. why is it that gay people are singled out as the source of many problems? shit, we accept straight peoples life styles and (at least I do) don't interfere with any of straight issues. next time they ask for blood, I'm gonna tell them to fuck off, they had a chance for blood. now, I'm only donating to people in my family and friends of the same blood type as me. red cross blew their chances for any pity from me.

they're not trying to discriminate or anything, it's just that there's a higher risk of HIV in homosexual people, especially men. (learned that in my bio class) i don't think they mean any harm.

well i think the resentment and rebellion will really help the gay-straight tensions. I can only hope there are more people like you out there that are able to turn the other cheek.

Did you not notice that heterosexual anal sex is nailed in exactly the same way? The risks of HIV are much higher with anal sex. Know you're facts before you cry discrimination.

first of all, I don't do anal. just wrong to me. second of all, only reason gay folk have higher numbers of HIV patients is because there is a smaller percentage of gay folk compared to straight. so if you were to compare numbers instead of percentages, there is a huge difference.

i think that it's stupid to regect people just because they're gay. they lead the same types of lives as straight people. people say there's higher chances of HIV from anal sex but straight people have anal sex too! I'm straight but i have a lot of close gay friends so i so see your point. i had to deal with one of my friends not being able to donate a few weeks ago for the same reason. sorry man. it's stupid society is pretty much rude.

Why i agree to an extent, its not necessarily discriminating against homosexuals as much as it is trying to protect people from disease. The red cross reject alot of people.

That sucks...and honestly, you should've brought every sexual partner you've had in the past 12 months, and prove you don't have anything...

haha, it'd just be one, and we only did stuff one time. it was only a bj, and he said he had already been tested negative for anything. I made damn well sure he was honest, even though he was my friend and I trusted his word anyways. more like, for my assurance. he was straight, btw. he just wanted me to be at least comfortable to do what I was comfortable with.

If you really cared about the people you were giving blood to, you won't worry about these trifles. They have many other criteria for blood donors as well. It's a precaution to protect people's lives, so fuck off with your little self-righteous battle.
