My boyfriend is making a website for his business but can't get it to work in IE. He's using Dreamweaver and has gotten it to work in FireFox and Safari, though.

Here are the following problems he's enountered:

*his drop down menus, when you scroll over them, don't drop down, they're at the top of the screen

*the text on his main page isn't centered, it's off to the right so that you have to scroll over

*several of his other pages are the same way, only with the text centered -- you still gotta scroll even though there's nothing there

*he has music playing on his front page but the plug-in stopped working about 20 minutes ago; instead of loading, it says there's an error and that it failed to initialize

Does anyone have any idea what he could do to fix any of the above problems? I'd appreciate the advice.

We can't do anything to help without seeing the underlying code.

Alright, thank you, I'll tell him when I get to talk to him again.

How do I post the code? I tried but it was too long.

Perhaps you could post a link to the site?

Here it is.

First step, sort these out. The music player at the bottom of the page seems to be a big part of the problem.

So he just needs to do/fix what's listed on that page you linked me to?

-- Posted by allsmiles at 4:23 pm on April 14, 2008

Not necessarily just, but those will help. Should also increase the loading speed.

Alright, thanks, I'll have him start there and see what happens.

Okay, he did what was on that page but it's still all stretched out.

I have a fleeting suspicion that the width of the is what causes it to stretch like that. Remove it completely from the width of the layout (forcing it to 1008px anyway is poor design) and give it its own column and playbox, or something.

Gah, I told him but I might have to fight him on that one.

Quick question:

Code:

2008 Mobilesonic. Clark County, WA, USA. All information on this page subject to change.

Music provided by http://www.myspace.com/xetahexmusic";>Xetahex. Track name: "404." Click below to play/stop

On his pricing page there's a split between the text and the copyright info at the bottom. I kind of think the bottom bit is a slice skinnier than the top bit. He doesn't seem to think so but I was wondering...the table is set to 1008...

...that's the cell, right? Should it really be set to 1000 or am I imagining that the bottom half is slightly skinnier?

It'll be 8px thinner. Needs to change one of the values, so that they match.
