I installed it, but it for some reason, it froze on install. Now, it claims it's been altered by some unauthorized program. How do I get rid of it from my system? I have version 2003, but these past versions fail to uninstall completely...

just go into your control panel and see if you can uninstall it from there.

if not call the number and let them walk you through it

Try googling it.  I had that problem with Norton on a computer a couple years ago, and there was some sort of trick to uninstalling it.  Like going into a hidden folder and having to manually delete something.  But I don't remember what I had to do.  So just try googling it, and you should be able to find a walkthrough of what to do.

go back to a previous system restore point. i hope you made one before you tried to install it. norton can be difficult to handle (not as bad as mcaffee, but still bad)

I found this, it is an uninstall tool.  Since using the uninstall option in Windows doesn't remove it completely, use this.  It has step by step instructions.
