my friends computer monitor is okay initially on start up, but after 5 minutes, the monitor starts to flash a pink colour, until it turns pink all the time and stays it. does anyone have any idea what could be causing it?

Have you tried degaussing it? Usually it's in the monitor's menu and accessed by using the buttons on said monitor. neveramind. wrong type o' monitor.

Have you tried using a different monitor, see if the problem persists? Or equally using the same monitor with a different computer? All these can help locate where the problem is. It'd seem like a cable problem causing colour change, however, due to it persisting after five minutes, I'd suggest a graphics card fault.

Its probably a graphics card problem. That kinda thing can happen as the computer gets old. Try a new one, and if the problem persists, you'll probably need a new monitor, or cables.
