I purchased a computer with VISTA, which comes  preinstalled with IE7, but my software is not compatible with it (QuickVerse8), and it will only work with IE6. So far I have found nothing to assist in downgrading. Does anyone have an idea?

Costs about 400-500 to do so.

Here's a website with a lot of old versions, so you can find IE6 there and install it.

Vista will keep you from downloading IE 6 if it came installed with IE 7

Uninstall IE7, then try to install IE6.

If you manage to install it you may need to disable auto-updates.  You can still leave the updates to a point where it asks you what to download and install.

download IE6 on BitTorrent or LimeWire if you cant get it anywhere else, install it OVER IE7, do not delete ie7

From the responses I am getting to this question, I am under the assumption that there is no way to do this, or that those who are replying have not actually done this themselves. Windows Vista Add/Remove programs does not give the option of removing IE7 and if I try to overwrite IE7 with the installation of an earlier version, it will produce an error message stating that this cannot be done.

I may have to cut my losses.

If you need to do it very bad, run a virtual machine.  Install something like Windows 2k Pro with VMWare server (or other) and run it from there, but to run very smoothly you will need a good PC.

I might as well upgrade to a newer version of Quick Verse before I do that, but thank you for the suggestion.

remove ie7, download and istall ie6, and then reinstall ie7! :)

It has already been established that this is not possible with Vista as a preinstalled operating system.
