So, any recommendations? Anything I absolutely have to see in these places? Anything I have to do?

I'll be with someone that knows the city (a little) and speaks Malay at least...what's good to do and see there though? I'm not worried about getting around, I'm well traveled.

There isn't a whole lot to do in singapore. There is a whole lot of shopping to be done if you have lots of money. The night safari is quite cool.
For KL, How old are you? Are you going with friends or family? The night markets are amazing and there are tons of cool bars to hang out in. Are you going anywhere else in Malaysia

I'm 19 and I'm going with a friend that is 23 or 24, can't remember. I'd love to go to Penang also, so we'll see. Any suggestions of where else to go? I don't have tonnes of money, so keep budget in mind.

Well..you can go to Melaka - Historical city or Sarawak which has a few interesting places which you can visit. You can go to Melaka by bus which costs only around USD3.2 one way from KL. Lucky you since AirAsia (malaysia's budget airline) is having promotion right now..last time I checked it costs only USD25(max - excludes taxes & fees) to go to Penang.

Had an awesome time in penang, you should definitely go. We went to Taman Negara which was good for jungle trekking, I have a pic of me there in my IB. For beaches the other side is better. You can do everything really cheaply if you stay in Hostels , which is what all the young travellers do. Have you thought about going to Thailand as well? From Penang you can get an overnight bus and boat ride to Koh Phi Phi, which is absolutely beautiful.

How long have you got?
