I read in a psychology magazine that people who are multi-racial (not meaning Irish and French, but more of white and black, Asian and Hispanic, etc.) have a tendency to be more attractive than people with parents of the same race. This is because they get the dominant, healthy genes from both races...sort of like beating 3000 years of distant-inbreeding. While in single-race people, there's a greater chance that they got the recessive not-so-healthy genes. Because they have a healthier makeup, they're therefore more attractive because people are generally more attracted to healthy people. Of course it's not always true, but the study states that you merely have a better chance of having attractive children if your partner is of a different race than you. Good news for me I guess. I'm half white and half Asian. Discuss!

Yes, I think they often are. I had never really considered why that could be, but oten multi-racial people just look more exotic.

That is true that they get the good genes from both races, and sometimes are extremely attractive. I have a friend who is also half white and half asian and she's really pretty.

Thought so, but people got mad at me when I made a thread like this.

And wow, you are very pretty indeed. I hate how long the posts here have to be...

Um, I think it depends on the person. You can't say everyone from a mixed race is prettier than everyone who has same-race parents. My parents are from different races, but physically I look more like my dad, who's white.

God this thread is the most pretentious load of self-admiration I have ever seen.

My mum is Spanish/Seychellois, so African/Hispanic, and my dad is white. He's from Australia.

Oh, how much black are you?

I'm not. The Seychelles was never inhabited by blacks.

You aint mixed race, just mixed ethnicity. There are actually only three races among humans.

The people on the Seychelles are actually Hispanic, most of them came from Spain I do believe. I do realise Hispanics are technically white, but I wasn't being technical.

I would have a lot of problems with any kind of study trying to prove that. 1) prove that people of mixed race are in fact "healthier" when I believe that social factors like class, experienced racism, whether parents are immigrants, whether people are urban or rural would have a lot more to do with visible health than one's race. 2) prove that they are found to be more attractive based on a genetic level, not a social one. There is a disgusting amount of fetishism towards the perceived exotic (from the white side), especially with mixed race folk. And there is a lot of fetishism among minorities with complexes about light skinned people, since they have historically been more valued.

This is so fucking stupid and I can only begin to explain it. You aren't 50% white and 50% asian. You make it sound like every single one of your ancestors on each side was the exact same race. Those are not distinct, universal races. They include multiple white races and multiple asian races. It's not like when you learned probability in math class and you found 4C2. It's not a thing where there are specified groups of identical people created fundamentally different from the people of other groups and you're picking one person from two different groups and making a baby. This is hundreds of thousands of years of breeding; EVERYBODY IS MULTI-RACIAL NOW. Yeah, "multi-racial" people get the healthy genes from both races, but "mono-racial" people get the healthy genes from both parents as well. Honestly, are parents of "mono-racial" people identical except for the gender differences?

If you give us a link to a detailed account of the study I am 100% certain I will be able to sucessfully argue 1 or 2 things... a) its full of shit. b) the co-relation is so weak that it is hardly statistically relevant.
-- Posted by Novelty at 10:03 pm on May 15, 2008
I would like to see that study, but I am pretty sure that it is untrue and probably bias. I would imagine that attractiveness is a matter of personal preference.
-- Posted by BandGeekLesbo at 12:44 pm on May 16, 2008
Yeah, actually all my friends and I think that too. I guess that would explain it, but its so true. I think the most beautiful combination of races is black and white. Men and women have like the perfect complexion, hair, smile, and body type. And also black and asian look so gorgeous too. The dark skin is just too mesmerizing

You weren't aware that racial genes were as simple as "MY DAD IS SOMALIAN AND MY MOM IS ASIAN SO I CAN RUN REALLY FAST AND I'M SMART BUT I'M VERY, VERY UGLY!" I always thought it was a given that this theory was true. Just because the genetic variation between two people of the same origin is identical to the genetic variation between a guy from china and a guy from mexico doesn't mean that this theory is bogus, obviously.
-- Posted by GoloSLB at 10:49 pm on May 16, 2008
I think that's true, I have a friend who is half black and half Jewish, and I'm not gay, but I can recognize a good looking guy when I see one. Girls that are Asian/Latin American tend to be really hot IMO. hmm...I guess I'm about 80% white but my white comes from countries that aren't considered the whitest of the lot. Wonder what what means. Oh well.
-- Posted by medjai at 10:55 pm on May 16, 2008
I don't understand how having a friend who's multiracial and attractive supports this argument. How about do an actual study and find 100 random people who have parents of the same general ethnicity (white white, black black, hispanic hispanic, asian asian), and 100 random hybrids and take pictures and then make an implicit test that just asks "very good looking" "not very good looking" and have people go through the bitch and see who scores higher or whatever. At least then you could fall on some actual research for claims like this. I don't understand how people are so stupid that they don't think a guy with a family of all white people has less racial variation than a guy with a white mom and a black dad. If anything, the white guy probably has more racial variation. I guess people don't realize that skin tone is rather useless in determining if someone is a cross breed.

BUT I WILL SAY MY STEP BROTHER INHERITED A GREEK BODY AND OLIVE MEXICAN SKIN AND THIS IS RATHER A DECENT COMBINATION.
