is there a keyboard shortcut that lets you switch between different tabs in web browser?

if you use firefox, ctrl + 1 for first tab, ctrl + 2 for second tab, etc.
Not sure about IE, it may be the same thing but im not sure.

I just use ctrl+tab to switch between them and ctrl+F4 to close an individual tab.
