That's like average here. Don't take more than fifteen. You're biting off more than you can chew. No class at a university is simple. They all require lots of time and devotion.

Don't underestimate how hard your classes may be because it will bite you in the ass.

Parking! I wish I knew how to park. Now I know how to park and I always get the same spot.

Don't be so eager to go and live on your own. Sure it's a great experience but think about it. If your university isn't far away from your home, like mine, then you don't have to live off ramen noodles. Why struggle when you don't have to.

the difficulty of credits varies through colleges I think. the average here is around 10 and all the teachers cringe when I tell them I take 14

Network and interact with people in your classes as much as you can. They can really help you in times of need.

Yours must be different, since all the universities and colleges I know of, the average is 15 credits. Most are also 120 to graduate with different criteria and whatnot.

it's a community college (not sure if that's the reason) and I hear there's some kind of "exchange rate" with credits if you want to transfer to CSU

Your advisor is like...your best friend... You have to double and even triple check things...like say, why you didn't get any scholarships or grants even though you had a 3.9 GPA when you transferred into the school... Roommates...are a pain in the ass...be prepared to be a bitch, just in case... You can't always trust your professors even though you'd like to. There are those that will be, at best, extremely unfair.

if you're really from illinois, i suppose i could let that one slide, but it's kinda obvious lol if you're from sd or california

Check for yourself even if your advisors tell you to do something. The ones at my school are notorious for being complete morons. Actually go to class. Everyone has problems going at some point, but it's your money being wasted if you don't and you're not learning anything sleeping instead. Don't ever think you're too good to ask for help. Sometimes you will need it.

When you're a junior start thinking about a job after college. If you know what you want to do before you graduate, you won't be wondering "what do I do now".

You can't always trust the friends you make. Have fun in your first year because you won't be able to do it after that. I have wasted my first year.

Don't miss every lecture in a subject then try to read the notes 2 days before the exam, it'l get you through the first semester the seconds a different story though. And oh yeah, learn to cook decent food, eating crap just makes you feel like shit after a while

<--i just graduated three days ago...still have no idea what i am going to do! -- also, it's okay to work, but dont work alot, otherwise you'll end up stupid and failing your major 5 times... *also, show up for class -- most instructors dont have the time or 'memory' to remember what they talked about in class, so this brings me to another point to get to know the people in your classes, so if you do happen to miss, you can get together w/ them and find out any assignents or notes *dont waste any time doing assignments/papers/projects--the more you procrastinate, the harder it is to bullshit your way thru it (trust me, been there, done that) *if you live on campus, learn to deal w/ the cafeteria food *if you want to have a party, do it at someone else's place so you dont get kicked off campus and out of school if you get caught! that's all i can think of for now.

14-15 credits is perfect for a Freshman, allows you to drop 1 class and still remain a full time student. Befriend your roommate(s).
