I plan to really get serious this summer about weight lifting...As a woman, though, I feel like guys don't really like when girls enter the weight room at my school's gym.

If a girl walked in and asked for help, would you be willing?  Or does she have to be hot?  Cause let me be honest, I ain't

Depends some guys are old fashioned and prefer a girl to not be doing that stuff. Like girl football or basket ball. But I would expect the guys there would help you. But they might feel intimidated by having you around. It can go many ways really.

Im a woman,

But I think it shouldn't matter what gender you are. If you want to work out, work out. If you want to lift weights lift weights.

buy your own free weights and do it at home. i always had to lift in high school because of sports, its not a big deal at all.

if you dont feel comfortable at the gym at your school, why not use a public gym?

and i dont think they would find it attractive if you were trying to get stronger, but if you were trying to get fit then i think theyd be more accepting

I lift weights and nobody really cares. Just do what you need to do to get fit. Nobody should care.

hey gurl all the power to ya! i think it's awesome that you wanna go and work out. don't worry about the guys in there just be yourself and do what you wanna do! good luck!

well, not being hot helps you out - because they won't be hitting on you, and will actually take you seriously as someone who really wants to lift weights.

i can tell you right now that if i was helping a girl with weight lifting and she was hot - i'd take every opportunity to check her out - and have "more sessions together" and "do something after". guys are like that.

but i encourage lifting weights - ive been doing it for a couple years now and i've never been in better shape

What kind of strength-building routine are you thinking of? Squats, lunges, overhead press, dead lift? If you want more advice and motivation, I know some nice guys who can help you out (they helped me and they're awesome friends) on the #/fit/ channel irc.rizon.net. You just need a chat client like mIRC and once you connect you can ask any sort of advice you want. Hope to see you there!
