I spend quite a lot of time learning about the internet (because im a geek).. and the one thing ive noticed over the years in the internet is becoming more social. With sites like facebook using applications and now myspace following suit its clear that social websites are the next big thing. With this in mind I was wondering if the team on this site had thought about creating an open social app (ref. google) to make the site more accessible. fyi. Open Social is a coding standard / platform from google which means people can design applications / modules that are cross site compatible. Let me know what you think!

I will say this now, and speak no more. There is only one Lord of Livewire. Only one. And he does not share power.

the idea isn't to make it a social network. wikipedia is a social website but its not a social networking site. the practical side of LW adopting the open social platform is people using other sites like facebook and myspace can access LW content from one place. as far as im aware LW already has an igoogle application for recent topics. its just an extention to that.

Um.. These applications, where would they be placed? And how does that improve our mission to be a support site?

It won't happen. LiveWire isn't MySpace or Facebook.
