Guitar strings?
Have you ever tried using the G in the high E's place and just tuning it to the E?

If you have, does it work?

I have a show in like... an hour and all the music shops around me are closed. I don't have an extra E.

I dunno about how it would work out, but as far as how it would sound. no. definitely wouldn't work.

couldn't you just take the higher notes down an octave, and go without it?
[I'm not a guitar player, so I wouldn't know, I'm orchestra...not rock.lol. with some knowledge of theory]
