It seems like every day I find out another girlfriend has been raped. One of my friends was raped in 6th grade by a boy a year older who forced her into a bathroom several times, and the second person she's told, ever. Another friend was raped visiting a mens college at a party -got rufied (sp?). And then there's me. I was NOT raped by any means, well technically but not really. I was however sexually assaulted sleeping over freshman year drunk in a bed with my best friend (a girl) and this guy who was so dorky he'd never kissed a girl supposedly.....well he groped me and placed his hand....well you know. I've accepted that, it wasn't that hard to move on past that but there are other things. Whats worse and even MORE women can relate to is guys almost forcing sex on a woman and making her feel bad about herself if she doesn't give in or if she does. No matter what, if she sleeps with a guy she's a whore and he's a 'man' a 'player'. It's disgusting. I'll be most other women will agree right? And the reason I'm saying women instead of girls is because since I'm in college and over 18, I'm a woman :) not a girl.

Double standards do tend to suck, especially for females. Not so much for guys. We have the better end of the deal in my opinion.

ugh...society has brought this on itself. I hate to say it, but it's that way because we let it be that way. It's mens fault, it's womens fault, its the parents fault, its the schools fault, its everyones fault.

Sorry about that.... I would suggest you women to wear more appropriate cloth that way chances are less seducing the men to rape you and all. I mean some women or girls that I have encountered outside (specially in summer) how they walk is like calling the men "rape me plz" extremely slutty dressed. Some of those dorky who "can't get some" are going to be tempted to do something extreme like raping, so you have to dress properly and not to hung out with people you don't know very well to get drunk with. They should have ban alcohol at least in the colleges, universities.

your right it is society's fault, but nearly every society is like the western society. I hate it! I absolutely hate it! This whole inequality for women thing hit me hard this week. one of my friends, who's younger at that told me about her rape. I got hit on a job interview today and I know a lot of the reason he hired me is because he thought I was cute (he kept pointing me out out of 15 other people for 90 minutes) and according to my parents i'm not allowed to keep the job cause it's sketchy...basically a 'helpless, young woman like myself is incapable stopping by people's homes selling things' and my bf is getting all upset because he comes from a family that doesn't have much money so he feels inadequate because he apparently thinks he can't provide for me even though i'm perfectly capable of providing for myself if anyone just let me! This just sucks.

Rape isn't based on sex. Women of all types can be raped. Some men rape elderly women. Any psychologist will tell you that rape has nothing to do with sex. Its about power and control. Thats why a womans look is so rarely a factor.

But majority of the time is the young good looking get victimized compare to the not good looking and old one.

So it's WOMEN who need to change their behavior because we're just tempting men too much? But men can act any old way they want to?! You have no idea how I dress, how I was dressed. It doesn't matter how I dress....no matter what I'll still get hit on by creepy men....and i was fully clothed when i got in bed and yes i understand that it was not the smartest choice but i was a freshman in college, first time at a college party with my 'big sister' right next to me and the guy was a good friend of another good friend of mine. Who's fault was it? mine or his? HIS. And I called the police on him so he'll never be able to get a job. Quote: from Aristocrat at 12:24 am on May 27, 2008

Its more spread out than most people think. Women 18 or under are popular for the same reason the elderly are. They are physically weak. Its a horrible idea, but its the reality.

notice how the Males r finding this funny. i hope ur dicks get chopped off u motherfuckers.
-- Posted by Virtual Space at 9:53 pm on May 26, 2008
Why is would anyone try and pin the blame on women when it comes to rape? Is it possible to be any more of a mosogynist than that? Your practically saying the women deserve it. Its like saying a child should be beaten for not cleaning his room. Blaming the victim makes no sense.
-- Posted by Anonymous at 10:30 pm on May 26, 2008
exactly! blaming the victim doesn't make sense.
-- Posted by HdeltaF at 11:23 pm on May 26, 2008
Well ofcourse it's not the womans fault. Just like it's not a man's fault that his brand new BMW got stolen when he parked it at in the middle of the ghetto. Of course the car thief is guilty of a crime, but at the same time, it wasn't too smart for the guy to park there anyway.

Who is making fun of this? I was just giving an advise in general maybe sometimes in the future she and others could avoid such thing to happen; by wearing less revealing clothes and stop getting drunk with guys she don't know and so on and forth. And why would you want someone's dick to be chopped off? That is heartless thing to say.

ok, I believe that the rapist is 100% responsible for the crime, no matter what clothing that other guy or girl had on. That said, I think girls should dress more modestly (which has nothing to do with rape). Girls you can't wear whatever you want to wear. It's like the slut on the airplane (who was on the news) that didn't want to cover her privates, because she thought that's invading her freedom. I'm a guy, and I am sexually aroused when a girl is naked... a guy who doesn't get sexually aroused is most likely gay or just plain weird. It's the way we are made... If you don't want all the guys staring at you, then do not dress so skanky. Because that what it makes you look like, a skank. I'm sorry if I offended your feelings, but girls need to understand that you draw more attention from guys when you dress like a skank. You are not helping males by dressing the way you do. You are not helping people's marriages, or relationships. All it does is bring more temptation for men to be unfaithful to their spouses...

Yeah I agree with you and I didn't say the rapist was not responsible he is responsible 100%. Like you already said if a girl dress modesty chances is that she will not gain attention compare to the one dressed slutty and just playing part of precaution to avoid problems to the injury. I guess to some people probably misread or misunderstood me thinking I am justifying the rapist.
