I do ALOT of photo editing and mix music etc

I need an OS that works best with Music and Pictures.

And another question do you need to buy a MAC to install the OS or could I just buy the software and install it on my custom built computer? Thanks!

go to the MAC world . there supports multimeadia a lot .

Mac OS X, obviously.

Yes, you need a Mac to (legally) run OS X on it. Not to mention it's complicated to do it on a normal PC and can have plenty of driver problems.

well I have to think about it .

I just don't matter that thing . But with an emulator you can't
get the actual performance , shuch as low latency audio driver and more graphics hardware supporting tools .

you may have your coffee cup and come back . for a example java ! their symbol is that .

I don't see how either of the main two OS's are better than each-other when it comes to  working with music and pictures. This is all down to what software you use. Photoshop for example will work on either.

Mac OSX.  Period.

The bundled i'Life package beats the crap out of most Windows apps.
