I will scream then quit band. This is going to be my first year in band. Percussionists have to go for a special drum camp for one week where we get set on our instruments and stuff like that. It's only day two and I'm pretty sure I'm going to be placed in the pit. I don't want to be in the pit because I can't play mallets (except timpani which I'm great at). If they put me in the pit I will be super pissed and might quit band. I know it sounds like I'm being a little bitch but I despise mallets. I want to place the bass drum or even crash cymbals. I love the pit and mallets! But I don't like the kids who are forced to join the pit.

The people in pit are talented. Playing mallets is a hell of a lot harder than playing bass/cymbals. (tenors and snares are difficult) but, suck it up and learn mallets. you will learn to love them!

you are a little bitch and you sound like a possible weak link, they'd be better off without you

I was in the pit at one time and I didn't like it either at first. Then I started to love it simply because it was a great experience and it helped build skills that other people didn't get a chance to work on. Lol. Our band has like 30 pople in it too so we would give anything for a pit at all.

Pit owns. Everyone wants to be in the drumline at first, but you have to work your way up. If you're not good enough to be in drumline for your first year, that's normal. You just have to accept what you get, not whine or moan, and practice so you can get it in it next year.
