He seemed perfect. Blond hair, brown eyes, lovely boyish smile. Likes to read, very sweet. But he drinks and I don't like that...

-- Posted by mussed at 11:50 pm on June 4, 2008

i'd go out with him.

-- Posted by iconoclast at 11:50 pm on June 4, 2008

depends what he drinks, really. shouldnt judge people based on the beverages they imbibe

-- Posted by bluerosedangel at 11:50 pm on June 4, 2008

depends...i mean, if he was a social drinker, that's cool, but if he's an acoholic, then no.

-- Posted by sidekick k at 11:51 pm on June 4, 2008

i don't mind drinking just as long as he doesn't get hung over all the time and i end up having to take care of him for the rest of the night.

-- Posted by DreamTheater101 at 11:51 pm on June 4, 2008

i would never date a guy that drank his own piss

-- Posted by i r sekz at 11:52 pm on June 4, 2008

OMG HE HAD A BEER THE OTHER DAY WHAT A LOOZAR!

Seriously.  Its just alcohol, accept him for the person he is, not the beverages he consumes.  Unless he drinks bitch drinks, in that case question his sexuality.

qft unless hes an alcoholic and blacks out everynight

-- Posted by ehmusic at 11:58 pm on June 4, 2008

That's no big deal at all.  Unless, he has some sort of problem?  If he doesn't, perhaps you're bothered by that a little more than you should be.  Maybe your values are too different from his for you two to even get together anyway?
[I'm sleepy and rambling]
lol

-- Posted by matto at 11:58 pm on June 4, 2008

there's a difference between use and abuse.

get to know him and his habbits more, then decide.

The act of consuming a beverage be it non-alcoholic or alcoholic is something we all do its a benign activity.  It is the way the person acts under the influence that gives you a true judge of ones character.

I honestly, rarely judge people, and when I do it doesn't stop me from getting to know them.

so you'd either date anybody or nobody, basically?

and they're all valid preferences? somehow more valid than whether or not somebody drinks a certain thing?

In essence, so is everything else.  Drinking gives a valid insight into someone's character.  If you don't like people that like to fuck up their perception for the sake of a good time, it's making a judge of someone's character based on what you like and don't like.  To think that is invalid is seriously flawed.

Hardly.  So if I have a beer after work I am "fucking up my perception for the sake of having a good time?"

More along the lines of I like blondes but I'll date a brunette...

-- Posted by EmilyAnn at 3:13 pm on June 5, 2008

That's definitely a terrible way to judge this guy.

You should probably get to know him and discover the good things about his personality before you judge him by something most people do.

It'll be hard for you to find a non-drinking male in life, anyway. There simply aren't many of them.

Just don't be so judgmental, k?

-- Posted by Kayling at 9:14 pm on June 6, 2008

lol, I don't think I'd date a guy who DIDNT drink (because he's probably be waaaaay too conservative for me). Seriously, get the fuck over it. most people drink, it's not really a big deal.

-- Posted by nikki at 1:49 am on June 16, 2008

Okay, in England, the drinking age is 18, and most of my friends have been drinking since they were 14 or 15. It's really not a big deal if they drink occasionally, seriously. There are more important things to worry about.
