Its a dream. Chances are it won't happen. If you want to try, then go to a stage school, or go for auditions
-- Posted by Another Chance at 1:33 pm on June 6, 2008
LOL. You're only fourteen, not many fourteen year olds know how to do that. You gotta make yourself stand out. Get involved in plays and stuff like that. And you gotta be good at it.

scream I AM NOT HERE or just be really marketable, a little edgy but not THAT interesting, or the sheep reject you maybe youd do a good job, you sound like the type
-- Posted by Day Old Blues at 1:34 pm on June 6, 2008
Do you go to a stage school? I'd think that would be a great first step and still allow you to carry on your education. I guess get involved in a few small productions, work your way up to bigger ones. What about extras work? But keep in mind most people who want to be actors/actresses won't become famous. Don't let that spoil your dream though :)

You won't. Know why? Because you're going into it for the wrong reasons. For fame. I want to be an actor, more than anything in the world. But I would rather ACT in quality stuff than just be famous. Those people who want to be in movies for the fame and the money will maybe make a couple of crappy movies because they're good looking, but as soon as somebody thinner and younger and prettier comes along, you're out. You want fame? Dress like a slut and wear too much makeup. You're bound to get a least a couple of jobs. But there will always be somebody who is better looking and thinner than you. Which is why looks won't get you far in the acting field. You've gotta have something to back it up.

Name them. They're bound to be people who get no respect in the real acting world - like Cameron Diaz and Jessica Alba - because they suck and it's obvious that they only are where they're at because they're hot. As soon as they lose that, they'll never be hired again because they have no talent. I would SO rather be a Kate Winslet than a Jessica Alba. Not in the tabloids, not plastered all over magazines - but a HUGELY talented and respect actress.

Uhh no im not in it to become famous. I want to be a famous actress. I love acting but i want to become famous through it. And to be honest im not drop dead gorgeous but at the same time im not mirror shattering ugly.

uh lindsey lohan, paris hilton and shit like that what makes you famous is being the most marketable really. same shit applies to music. the majority of popular bands are comprised of talentless hacks. id guess that actors in independent films that arent just trying to be pretentious where they actually care about the content and not just making money are more talented idk i dont really watch movies much

But can Paris Hilton be considered an actress? I would say no. She's only famous because of Daddy's money and nobody takes her seriously, nor is anybody ever going to take her seriously.

You just proved my point. You can't get into acting for the fame or the money because you will never succeed. You have to be in it for the craft. I'm in it for the craft. If I have to be poor for the rest of my life, I don't give a crap. I would love to get into movies because then you are able to reach a wider audience than theatre. If I happen to become famous because of it, then that's cool. But I'm not LOOKING to become famous. I have a real problem with people who want to get into movies for fame and for glory and for money. Because then those of us who actually are in it for the craft, for the ART of acting, get brushed aside in favor of the slutty airhead. Or we get lumped together with those lusting after fame. I despise it. You have to think about what is more important. Doing what you love and getting no recognition and little money, or being famous and having no respect. I pick the first one. Acting means so much more to me than fame.

Ok. I understand that. But what Im asking is how do I get myself noticed? Where would I find out about work as extras?

On the internet, probably. If you're a Brit, you could probably get work in the next Harry Potter movie, depending on where they film.
-- Posted by babzzz at 2:06 pm on June 6, 2008
Yeah, I am a brit. Any ideas what I could search on google?
-- Posted by katiecat at 2:08 pm on June 6, 2008
Look up the credits of the HP movies and find out the name of the casting agency. Then google that.

Being original and getting on broadway should be your first long term goal, then MAYBE movies
