I don't understand why the need for social interactions is so strong. For example, I live so far out of town that I can't just get up and drive in. So I get online when I'm craving communication. The internet is not really person to person, it's person to screen to person. But it's still a comforting solution to my lack of a current social life. I just thought it was an interesting observation.

i can relate. spending too long away from others can be weird. But then again, sometimes its nice to embrace that bittersweet feeling of not needing everybody else to stay up.

Humans are social creatures by design. Acting as a group leads to the exchange of information and ideas which is why many civilizations advanced more rapidly than others. But also, humans have a tendency to comfort each other, so by seeking out other people, you also find comfort. I know all people are not like this, I am just speaking generally.
