I've been thinking about full-time army after college. It depends how I do as to what my options are. I've been doing army reserves for about a year now as a regular trooper (soldier) and am really enjoying it, but I'm told it gets boring after 5 years or so of doing the same stuff. Also, I kind of like the idea of commanding her majesty's soldiers and being called "sir". Apparently, it's more fulfilling. As a specialist, I'd be in the psych corps but it depends if I get good grades and finish...so:

Hypothetically, where would you go if you were keen on an army career?

Officer

Whatever career I'd pick I'd always aim for the top no matter what. I wouldn't settle for less than the best.

Yeah, but maybe what others consider the top is not the same as your view of the top. In reality, that's what I'm trying to do, but I'm not sure what it is. I know what you mean though.

Freudian slip?

Go for officer if you want a career imo.

Everybody views being at the ''top'' differently quite frankly being at the top for me is achieving perfection.. but I'm being told that perfection lasts only for a short moment.

You just got to figure out what you want and then go for it with all you got!

Engineers, a definite. Not only do you go on the peace keeping missions providing aid you really get to help the people by digging wells, building roads, making sure buildings are safe, building bridges etc. not to mention de-mining minefield along with the tasks the other soldeirs have of guarding the people - so you really do make a difference.

In a combat zone you make sure the defences are safe, you build the fortications and defend them also.

Not only that but if you leave the army ypu havea very useful qualification that can be used in the civilian career. And if youre an officer youre overlooking everything your planning how it will be done and your planning what will be done if youre attacked.

Everyone thinks the engineers dont do anything and see no action but the Royal Engineershave won more Victoria Crosses than any other egiment. My great Grandad was a royal engineer and won a medal for "bravery in the field."

We have them too, but they're RAEME. Royal Australian electrical and mechanical engineers.

You're right mate. Engineers are very well paid too, particularly in places like Iraq. Guess why? lol
