From a guy's perspective, do you happen to know why some men (not all, I'm not generalizing) feel the need to do kinda douchebag things to their exgirlfriends? Example: A guy broke up with my friend right before they went to away to college, but they happened to go to the same college. He openly flirted with girls who lived on her floor and it hurt her a lot. He told her he didn't love her anymore. And it was very unlike his nature to be mean, he is a really nice guy. Is there a possiblity something like that is done out of fear? Jealousy? Maybe he wants to know that he is desireable...or to prove that he's "not" hurting? Would there be any obvious reason to hurt an ex? (IF the ex never hurt you first or did anything bad..no cheating, nothing) And why such an abrupt decision to breakup forever?

Jealousy, insecurity, immaturity.
