i'm auditioning for a musical on tuesday, and I have my song picked out and I can sing it really well, and I think I have the potential to get a great part.

the one problem?

I GET STAGE FRIGHT.
REALLY BADLY.

not with acting or dancing -- just with singing. whenever I try to sing in front of a crowd, my voice gets all vibrato and weak and wavery.

is there any way I can stop this from happening?

Close your eyes while you're singing? Do you have the song memorized?

Well, I've found that when I get stage fright I have to remind myself of why I am singing in the first place. I love it. If I love it, then everyone else doesn't matter, I'm not singing for them.

yes.

i had the same thing, serious.
all you have to do is believe that you can do it, i know it sounds really silly, but if you just convince yourself that you're good enough to do it, then it'll really help.

the more confidant you are, the stronger your voice will sound, and it won't come out all weak and wimper-y. just practice singing confidently in front of anyone, building up bigger groups & just know you can.

its an audition, nerves are normal. but imagine yourself getting the part and stuff..

Go in there just think OMG >>>> NERVOUS then just let that determintaion strike. look up  open your eyes wide let your eyes blaze with passion and do what you do. =] trust me just let your imagintion go WILD put feeling in. imagine all that matters is you and your song and how you work together.

OMG. How can you get stage fright? If you think your going to get stage fright then why would you even want to try out? That is so stupid. Why can't you just leave it to people who actually take lessons for this kind of thing. I mean seriously, ever heard of DRAMA ENRICHMENT CLASSESS? Geez.

for your information, my dear, I've been in eight plays, one of which was a musical. I've sung in three talent shows. I've gone to camps and classes and workshops and auditions by the barrelfull.
that doesn't mean that I don't get stagefright.
I just want it to go away.

maybe you'd understand that if you'd come down off that high horse of yours.
