Some of our members have expressed that their parents disapprove of LiveWire. The moderators (penguincube) and myself have prepared a letter which you can share with your parents if you feel it would be beneficial:

That was pretty cool that you, or was it penguincube, took the time to do that. I'm sure some parents will feel better about this place after reading it.

I don't see why parents would disapprove

Parents would disaprove because Internet mediums provide an opportunity for you to give out personal information, meet people who cannot be trusted, and be exposed to faulty advertisements and online scams.

It was my great pleasure to author this letter to try to put these valid fears to rest and ensure that parents know that no only is every possible measure taken to keep every one of our users safe, but the content and features of this site are actually very beneficial to teenagers.

I'm sure it was David's pleasure to revise and promote it, as well.

my father doesn't want to me to talk to people i don't know...

not that i'm gonna show him the letter, b/c even though it's an awesome letter, he'd still say no. so what he doesn't know, doesn't hurt me. and before i get "you need parent's approval" i'm 18 so it doesn't matter

but good job Pengy and David!

Parents suck at times, mine think LiveWire is a type of AIm chatroom filled with bots and people wanting to cyber and whatnot.

I don't see why parents would disapprove

I do.

First of all, David Live Wire is awesome and this is one of the greatest peer network for teens, however, I can see why some parents would NOT approve of this site.

Have you seen the Teen Sexuality forum for an example?  Some people have posted topics about how they've had sex with animals, or having sex with a sibling, or something else disgusting.  If a parent saw this, they'd be appalled at this.  Even I'm appalled at this, but since I've been at this site a while I realize that most of these people are just trolls.

No adult is going to approve of some kid bragging about him/her having sex with their dog, and neither should any of us.  That is just one example of where many parents would not approve of Live Wire, and I hate to say this but I'd agree with them.  I wouldn't want any of my kids of any age, reading about some kid having sex with an animal or something else that is as disgusting as that.

Most everyone who posts in the Sex forum are either underage or trolls.  I can't believe someone asked if they could get pregnant from cybersex...

I don't see why parents would disapprove

My dad freaked out when he saw the home page and how many quizzes there were about homosexuality, masturbation, and sex in general.  He didn't even SEE Teen Sexuality & Hygiene.  Thanks to Pengy for the idea and letter and to David for editing and publication.  I will soon be showing this letter to my dad.

Great letter, although I don't expect it ot help...It is a good thought.

It already has helped.

So thanks for the praise.

EDIT:

In response to tkster, I could understand why parents would disapprove.  This letter is to try and disprove the irrational fears for their child's safety.  If after the letter they still do not approve of the content, that is their choice.  Though I do think you're using atypical examples that are more than balanced out by the content that is genuienly useful

Thank you, my parents are getting worried about LiveWire so I can just show them that. I was worried I would never come back.
