Any other musicians have this worry? Ive been playing guitar for a long time and would like to still be able to play in college. Its a pretty big passion of mine. I wouldnt want my guitar stolen though.

get a case that locks, then get a bike chain, like the one where you can tie your bike to a pole in public places, then tie your guitar case, by the handle, to your bed or something that cant be removed. that will keep it safe =]

I may just take my cheaper guitar. Im trying to get over the whole, selfish thing if you will. I worked hard for my current guitar, it cost me $1800. If i dont use it as much at least it will make it that much more special when I do get to play out and gig. It will only be about 30 45 mins away.

....tell him before hand that your guitar is off-limits and that if they touch it you'll beat them into the ground with a 2x4?

i play guitar 2, & i know wat u mean.
get a bike lock and lock it up somewhere it wont come undone.
but bring your older guitar instead, just in case

thanks, ill do that.

Ive also ruled out guitar amps. since sound travels so easy. I was planning on headphones + pedal. Hopefully the sound of the actual strings wont but the roommate.

why would your roommate take your guitar??

i don't understand...

my boyfriend brought all 3 of his guitars last year, had 3 roommates, they all got to be really good friends, and anyway if your roomie took something that would be so stupid because you'd obviously know and it would be way awkward... most people have at least a tiny bit of common sense lol...

i wouldn't worry about it.
