Wasn't sure which forum is correct, sorry.

Mid September, my computer did something funny.  I got 2 new CDs for my birthday and I was uploading them to iTunes.  I finished the first one, and when I got to the second my computer claimed there was no CD.

Since then, it hasn't reccognized any CDs or games, even if it used to reccognize them before.  For some reason, it does reccognize DVDs.  But nothing else.

My dad said he would fix it, but he hasn't... So... Does anyone know what this could be?  My computer is not old, it wasn't even a year old when that happened.  I have tried cleaning the CD-thing.  Nothing works.

Help?

The thing about that is that you will need the CD Drive in order to do that, or hope that you have a DVD copy of the Operating system or Recovery Disk.

Failing that there is not a connection problem between the CD Drive and the motherboard, it may just be that the Drive is no longer working. As in the part that reads CDs is no longer function, but the DVD one is working fine. So you may need to replace the Drive.
