100 points for a set of instructions that work.

I'm trying to install windows onto my macbook. I've got the service pack as a .iso file (not an actual CD). What i've done is burned that onto a CD.

Then I used Bootcamp, which tells me to create a new partition (which I did) and insert the CD. I inserted the CD but it does not recognise this. Why?

How can I install windows onto my mac?

My friend has told me that I need to make sure the CD is a bootable CD, what does that mean and how can I make it that way?

Thanks.

It doesn't work because the service pack alone is not enough, I don't think the service pack is bootable. You need to slipstream a Windows XP original install disk with the service pack.

Your trying to install a service pack onto boot camp?

It has to be a legit windows disk, either an original or a copy. A service pack?

You need a full windows installation. Not just the service pack. Like marshmellowman said, you need to slipstream the XP disk to add the service pack to it. Or you can just add the service pack after you install XP.

But when you are burning the CD, in order to make it bootable, you need to burn it with a program that can burn .iso files. An .iso file is like a zip file - it is compressed. You need a program that can "unzip" it to the CD. I don't have a mac, but you can probably just do a google search for one (if you didn't do it correctly the first time).
