Right so, musicals are a big deal in my school, and they tend to be quite impressive. Next year (when i'm in year 11) the school is putting on Oliver Twist. The school is an all girls school, and is quite small (about 500 people), so theres a select few that are well known to be the great singers, and all though i am not one of these people, I take singing lessons and i'd like to think that i can sing. I've been in alot of plays in the school, but no musicals. How can i make myself stand out in the audition to make myself noticed? The music teacher knows me well as i take music GCSE in a class of only 7. But there are not alot of solo singing roles in the musical, and he apparently is doing the play twice at the same time, with two different casts if that makes sense. I know i don't really stand a chance, as there are much better people than me - but i'd just love a go. I'll be in the chorus if all else fails, but i'd love to actually be.. noticed. any tips?

I think if you get to choose your audition piece choose something with a wide range to show that you can do that. Although obviously don't perform something that is outside your capabilities. Its better to ace something simpler than fail at something that is just too difficult for your level.

I don't actually think we get to choose our audition pieces. I know it definately has to be something from Oliver, i'm pretty sure we have no choice. If i'm asked to sing 'where is love' though... gosh i'm screwed. I can barely hear it it's so high.

That would be Oliver. The musical is just Oliver. The book is Oliver Twist.
