I've never been one of the big "cutters" but I do turn to it sometimes because I honestly don't know what else to do. I'm really deppressed right now. I don't WANT to cut myself. But I feel an intense urge to. what can I do to keep me from doing it? Don't tell me to get prof. help. I don't need it...I hardly ever do this. But life's been bad lately.

Get somthing fun to do. Buy some play doh and mold things. Listen to some calm music Watch your favoirte disney movie. Do somthing that keeps your mind of cutting.

do something fun. call a friend. take a walk. do something to keep your mind off the urge to cut.

try not to think about it. think of happy things. hang out with friends and people you enhoy hanging out with

do what my friend did, find a friend (me) who knows that you do that, and call everytime you want to. she stopped 2 months ago

talk to someone u really trust who already knows that you do it. Thats what i told my friend to do. Discuss with them why u feel the urge to cut and why ur depressed. also u can control ur depression once you find out why ur depressed and what thoughts have caused the emotional turmoil within u. U can also get out of depression with this strategy.

but it's 12 a.m and i'm only 15. i can't go anywhere. my parents won't let me be on the phone. nothing seems fun either...tried the rubberband the b4. it's effect is wearing off.

Try the rubber band trick, that'll work for a bit. Do something with your hands, draw, write, text anything. Focus on something else and if all else fails sleep. At least that's what usually works for me.

Just remember that there are people online that you can talk to, and it might not help as much as talking to someone face to face but, its better than marking yourself up. I dont blame you for turning to such an action, to do so would be hypocritical but, i do hope that you will look at doing things like talking to people on lw, and drawing and singing and crying and watching movies. Anything to stop yourself from cutting.
