i know this might take offense to some people. but honestly i DONT see the point in all the stuff like "black history month". its stupid. i understand that black people have had a hard time in this world and all that stuff, but seriously its been 3209589 years since slavery and all that bullshit. i think theyre equal, ive dated black guys. but why should we have to have a whole month to recognize their achievements? its not like theyre the only people whove had problems coming into this world. what about native americans, mexicans, asians? they all have their problems too. people are racist against them too. to dedicate something like that to one race is completely retarded, just my opinion. tell me what you think.

wow. slavery isn't even the most of it. it's equality. you ask blacks if they think they're treated equally.

-- Posted by iloveyale at 3:02 pm on June 20, 2008

every race has been treated unfairly. but ever since the beginning of america, blacks have been extremely oppressed. things have changed because of their activism.. black history month is for every black who had a vision for his/her race. they overcame their obstacles, and ta-da, civil rights and equality lives today :]

-- Posted by The Bastard at 3:03 pm on June 20, 2008

man stfu, these stuff really promote more understanding, you're very childish and retarded

-- Posted by chicklover at 3:03 pm on June 20, 2008

i know instead how about like a internation races month or something lol

-- Posted by Cake and Sodomy at 3:03 pm on June 20, 2008

Native Americans?

Babe they're 'native'.
They were here before us.

And 3209589 years, is a little bit dramatic.

Pick up a history book.

-- Posted by camillelong 26 at 3:03 pm on June 20, 2008

and have you thought that if we had a white history month it would make us seem more racist?

-- Posted by karate lincoln at 3:03 pm on June 20, 2008

white people have every day as their day. one month for blacks is the least we can do.

-- Posted by Missipop at 3:03 pm on June 20, 2008

well i see the point of havng it
because they have been treated badly and people should learn from the past mistakes

but
i do think they should learn abut native american and mexicans ect

its not even just slavery, i understand that theyre not treated equally. but seriously, no one is if theyre considered a "minority." its not JUST black people who face judgement.

-- Posted by frawlj at 3:04 pm on June 20, 2008

Black history month is perhaps no longer essential as African culture is easy to find and learn about if you wish to where a time ago it wasn't however it is of course vital to learn about the slave trade as it is any other significant historical events.

-- Posted by Kurasu chan at 3:04 pm on June 20, 2008

ummm. It really wasn't all that long ago O.O definitly not that long ago >.> 3209589 yeah...

You do realize that not every black person in America is African American.
