This is a poll to give us all an idea of which browser the majority of LiveWire users are using to view LiveWire on the Internet. Below is a short description of each of the browsers. If you are unsure which browser you are using, the title of the browser will usually be in the address bar along the top of the window (where the minimise button, close button, etc are). Also, try going to the Help menu and choosing the 'About' option. You will see the name of your browser and the version number in there. Internet Explorer This browser is shipped Microsoft Windows. Therefore, if you have not actively downloaded a different browser, you are probably using this one. Version 6 is standard with Windows XP, and if you keep up-to-date with Windows Update, you probably have Version 7 by now. Mozilla Firefox Usually known as just Firefox, this is a free browser produced by the open-source community. Developers, many of whom are unpaid by Mozilla, contribute their own time and effort into creating this browser (in fact, approximately 50% of the code in the Firefox browser was written by unpaid volunteers). Version 3 was released on June 17th 2008, and in the 24 hour period following its release was downloaded over 8 million times worldwide. It is compiled and distributed by Mozilla Corporation. Firefox can be used on all of the three main platforms - Windows, OSX and various distributions of Linux. Safari This is the default browser for any computer produced by Apple (MacBook, iMac, etc). It is also the browser you will be using if you are connecting to the Internet using your iPhone or your iPod Touch. Safari has recently been released for Windows users. Opera This browser is produced by the Opera Software company. Currently at Version 9.5, it is the browser you will be using if you connect to the Internet using your Nintendo Wii or Nintendo DS consoles, and many other mobile devices such as phones and PDAs. Television set-top boxes will usually use a 'lite' version of Opera for any web services. Google Chrome This is a browser released by Google on 2nd September 2008, still in beta. It boats a separate process for each tab, so that if one tab crashes, the entire browser will not hang. It is rumoured that this browser will be included in the Google Android mobile phone platform. Note: due to this browser being released after this thread was created, members using this browser can choose the 'Other' option in the poll and post their browser in the topic below. Download links: Internet Explorer: Version 7 (can also automatically obtain as a high-priority update through Windows / Microsoft Update) Mozilla Firefox: Version 3 Safari: Version 3.1.2 (Windows version; already exists on all Macs) Opera: Version 9.5 Google Chrome: Version 1 (beta)

Firefox 3 but I might change it because I keeps closing on me every single time I upload a file to website ( In the exact same second when I open the the window of my files t select it - the file I want to upload-) I don't know what's wrong but I hate it. It makes me restart ALL of my downloads and the session. I don't know what's wrong. Update: Firefox is still failing so I removed that browser and I'm trying Safari now. I didn't like Opera all that much, Although I didn't give it much of a try to be honest.

Firefox 3. I kind of wish I had the last version of 2 still, because for some reason when I updated to three, it deleted a lot of my bookmarks, most of them being bookmarks I'd had for months.

My main browser used to be Opera, but because it follows me like a workstation full of open windows, I don't tend to use it 100% of the time. Good for downloading multiple files quickly (including videos) from direct links to a predefined folder, and I can open a shit load of tabs at once. You can close (or crash) the browser, and bring the tabs back up. Firefox is the next best used browser for me. It seems to do a suitable job for me. Does the whole recovery like Opera quite well, and even seems to keep track of what I have written, since some of my windows updates have made me accidentally restart the computer right in the middle of typing. IE, I would avoid it when I can. Would uninstall it, but 1. impossible, and 2. need it for compatibility reasons for certain web content. Safari, I barely even use. I guess it is okay. Google chrome, when I first tried it out was amazingly fast. Things were loading up like crazy! I'm not sure if it can do everything you want just yet, but wow.
