Okay i haven't had one driving lesson yet, i only decided i wanted to learn to drive a week ago lol. So basically in our houses drive, my dads been teaching me clutch control, how to use gears, accelerate etc, it's a very small area. After about 40 mins in total in the car, i can now turn it on, change gear, drive it around the drive (reverse etc).. is that good? lol ^_^ My dad was saying if i practise for more than 5 mins a day the car will over heat -_- is that true?

Nahh I don't think so. Because I mean..the car is still on. It'll just think it's really driving.

ya. i think he's just protecting the car, but if he never lets you learn its never going to get better. Maybe eventually he'll trust you, my parents let me drive 2 hours in their newest car now.

You said its manual transmission? Maybe he means you suck at using the clutch.. and doesn't want you fucking up the car, especially since its 10 years old or whatever.

No it won't over heat. He needs to teach you to check the fluids--- I.E motor oil, tranny oil, coolant ect.

As for over heating, umm no. It won't do that unless you're out of oil. As for what you've done. Most people do that in their first driving lesson. It's not great but it's about normal.

Coolant loss will also cause the car to over heat and is generally the most common reason for over heating.

Trust me, I have driven the living hell out of my car. My average RPM that I shift at is around 5500 to 6000 because I accelerate fast. Coolant and oil handy, your car won't overheat. Learning to drive a stick is very useful though. I love driving manual.

maybe if you keep it at a very high rpm and never change gear then yes.
