I keep getting those aggravating emails saying to refer a friend every day, and even if I don't want to and just don't want the emails anymore, I still referred a friend. Three times, actually, and she's saying she's not getting the email. Not even in the spam folder. Why is this happening? Thanks, T

To turn off the emails, do the following: Register a disposable email account (ie 2prong or yahoo.com). Create a new livewire account using that email. List yourself as your referrer. Verify the email. Close the account. Done.

Why do they keep a system in place that the majority of people seem to 'hack' around anyway? Surely the referral system is pointless then. Most importantly, this is meant to be a support forum, how is forcing people to refer others aiding in that? I understand that it increases the audience in which 'support' can be provided to, but not all members have friends or have friends that would be interested in this site. The whole things reeks of some pointless ritual that we are all forced to endure just for the sake of pleasing the system. Screw that.

You're not forced to do anything at all, actually.

Maybe the context was mistaken. If we do not refer someone, then we receive constant bantering through messages, which is part of the ritual I was referring to. Although, I have a distinct feeling you were referring to the fact that I have a choice to be here or not, but that defeats the point. I realise this isn't my website so the decisions made are beyond my control or right to influence, but I was more enquiring into the reasoning behind the referral system than an excuse to bitch. Well.. I am tired, it wasn't really my intention to do so.

No, that's not what I'd meant at all. I meant that you don't have to refer someone... period. Nothing is forcing you ro refer someone. If constant reminder PMs really make you feel forced... well then, there's not much we can do.

That's pretty much what I had figured already. It's not that much of a problem for me, I was more interested in the reasoning. Thanks for your help.
